If you have been keeping tabs on Dying Light
, then you will no doubt have seen plenty of what the game looks like during the day. The streets may be filled with zombies, but you have the smarts and abilities to help you evade danger, especially with the ability to parkour on seemingly any surface within reach. Come across a pack of zombies that is too dense to fight your way through? No problem, just take to the rooftops and go around. Is your objective completely surrounded by your foes? Simply toss out a distraction, like a firecracker, and use the window of opportunity to get in and out before being noticed. The zombies are, of course, always an ever-present danger, but Dying Light
seems to give the impression that during the day the player can have a distinct edge.
However, when the sun goes down, and day turns to night, the odds seem to sway. When night falls, the zombies turn deadlier than during the day, and instead of slow, random walking, they will full out sprint in your direction. As evidenced in the video, zombies can also jump and climb onto objects meaning that there won't be anywhere safe to just wait it out; you're going to have to keep moving if you want to survive the night. In both this newest gameplay trailer, as well as those in the past, the moments of highest intensity seem to take place at night, and it is very clear that players will have to approach it in a different manner than during the day.
is set to release on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 sometime in 2014.
