Server shutdowns have cursed Xbox 360 games for a while now and we all know about the impending end of Games for Windows LIVE, Microsoft's PC gaming platform to precede Windows 8. Now we have heard news about possibly the first upcoming server closure for a Windows 8 title. Team Crossword (Win 8)
is the victim.
There is no need to panic immediately about getting the online achievements completed as the servers will be shut down in approximately six months' time. While a definitive date has not been announced, developer Frima Studios has promised to provide more information "as we get closer to the final date". The ability to purchase in-game tokens has now been disabled as the team "don’t want you to spend your hard earned real money on tokens for a game that’s going away soon". However, tokens can still be earned through gameplay until the servers are closed.

Once the servers have been closed, players will still be able to play in offline mode. Any puzzles that have been downloaded to your PC or tablet will still be accessible for play too. Unfortunately, the game will no longer receive technical support from the point that the servers close.
