This report is for the period February 3rd to February 9th 2014
Welcome to the Stats for the first full week of February here on TA. The numbers this week pick up in some areas slightly, but it won't be until next week when we start to see new releases finally begin to dent the numbers again. no special table this week as I've had to dedicate my efforts this weekend to a romantic Valentine's weekend for Mrs. Chewie. This involved cooking up some Ewok tear soup (a Wookiee delicacy, although something I seem to have in abundance) and hand-stitching a fur coat, although the Statsitcles didn't seem too fond of sewing together their own pelts. Oh well, more tears for the soup!Games Started
26,589 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 38,350 games between them (1,923 different games).
Lara continues to lead the way on the One Tomb Raider - Definitive Edition
, despite over halving its from the release week over 1,700 starters to just over 830. Last week I wondered how many people who had started this new version had already played the 360 version and how many were new to the game. However, thanks to an entirely ineffectual Statisticle, Gaston, I was unable to provide the data. I can fix that this week though, because my much more effective Statisticle, Sandford, in an effort to win my favour, managed to procure the numbers. On the 10th of February, the One version had over 3,200 starters and the 360 version had almost 44,500. Of those starters, over 2,000 had played both games. That answers that question then: more players of the One version (around two thirds) were already familiar with the game on the 360 than were coming to the game fresh. Unless they had already played it on a different platform. In which case, the whole exercise was entirely pointless.
It's not an entirely new release-less week, as The LEGO Movie Videogame (Xbox One)
sneaks into the low end of the table in eighth with 206 starters. This may seem low, but the game released in the US only at the end of the week. It came out in other territories a week later, so the numbers will probably be higher the week after.
Thanks to a nice 50% discount in the weekly deal
, LocoCycle (Xbox One)
makes it up to second place with over 580 starters, doing better than previous deal titles Crimson Dragon
(330) and Powerstar Golf
(415). Fun fact: this is the first time the game has made the Games Started table since the console's launch.Top Xbox One Games Started
In its first full week of "Games with Gold" freeness, Dead Island (Xbox 360)
reaching its full numbers potential, taking nearly 3,500 starters. It does better than the hotly anticipated new release of the week, Fable Anniversary
, which gets just over 3,400 starters. I remember playing the first Fable back in the mid-noughties and no matter how hard I tried to be good, everyone around me just kept dying. Speaking of which, I need to hire some new Statisticles.
Despite not being free for over a month now, almost 350 people are still starting their free copy of Sleeping Dogs
, putting it in third. Unlike on the One, The LEGO Movie Videogame
doesn't even make the table. Let's see if it makes it next week when countries outside the US have got their hands on it. Last week's new release Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z
slips down from fourth to ninth..Top Xbox 360 Retail Games Started
Last week, the release to beta players put World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition
onto the table in third with 630 starters. This week, that number increases to over 830, putting the game in first place. And it still wasn't released yet. As the game was released officially on the 12th, we'll see the release date numbers on next week's tables. Expect them to be higher. A lot higher.
With its "Games with Gold" freeness now revoked, Lara's Arcade outing Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
steps down to second, taking over 1,000 off its numbers to just over 770.
Last week's new release, Halo: Spartan Assault (iOS)
drops from 750 to 450 starters a week after release. Not amazing numbers considering the franchise's large following. The Wolf Among Us
increases its starters from 314 to 375, meaning people were lured into starting it by the week's release of "Episode 2 - Smoke and Mirrors
".Top Arcade Games Started
With no new releases to speak of for weeks, the deal title Pac-Man Championship Edition DX (WP)
easily steps into the top spot with 185 starters, replacing last week's Carcassonne (WP)
, which drops down to sixth place. Apart from that change, the table is almost a copy of last week's, just with lower numbers.Top Windows Phone Games StartedGames Completed
7,468 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 10,522 games between them (1,330 different games).
With a supremely easy completion (currently at over 50% of players having finished it), LocoCycle
easily takes the top spot with over 200 completions, more than double the next title on the list. The "Onslaught
" DLC for Call of Duty: Ghosts (Xbox One)
puts the game up to third from eighth with 80 completions. Tomb Raider
and its grindy MP makes it onto the table with over 65 completions in fourth place.Top Xbox One Games Completed
Although the ratios are high at first thanks to so many new starters, it seems that Fable Anniversary
is a fairly straightforward completion. Although only nearly 125 people completed in release week, I would expect that number to consistently rise and stay high over the next few weeks as all the new starters catch up and get it finished.
Like the 360 version, the "Onslaught" DLC puts CoD: Ghosts
up the table, this time into second wit the higher completion number of nearly 125, just one completion behind Fable
. Thanks to the recent sale and not very many other completed titles, Dark Souls
manages to creep into ninth place with nearly 50 completions. Not something I thought I'd see considering the game's perceived difficulty.Top Xbox 360 Retail Games Completed
Last week, Wolf Among Us
vanished from the table because the achievements got scanned in before anyone had started it and I predicted it would be back with a vengeance this week. Well, as predicted, the game takes a storming over 1,600 completions thanks to the "Smoke and Mirrors" episode. These completions make the rest of the table look piddly, with most of the titles carrying over from the previous week.Top Arcade Games Completed
An easy completion (over 70% of players have finished it) sees over 100 of Pac-Man CE DX
's 185 starters completing it. Like Arcade, this puts the other titles on the table to shame.Top Windows Phone Games CompletedAchievements Won
65,360 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 744,872 achievements online between them (51,453 different achievements).
Although Dead Island
proved the most started game, because there's no specific first achievement in that title, Fable Anniversary
manages to take the top two spots for achievements won for the first two story based achievements in the game. The rest of the table is shared between the two gamesTop Retail Achievements Won
All seven of "Smoke and Mirrors" achievements easily take the top spot, with World of Tanks
claiming eighth and tenth for training and winning your first battle, and Lara Croft GoL
in ninth.Top Arcade Achievements WonPac-Man
noms his way through the whole table.Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
The joint efforts of Dead Island
and Fable Anniversary
push Role-Playing from fourth to second, almost doubling the numbers from 2.5 to 4.7 million. All the other genres see a dip except for Adventure, which jumps from tenth to seventh with an increase f 400,000 to over 700,000 thanks to Bigby Wolf and his..well, his adventures.Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
That's all the stats I've got for you this week. I hope you had a very romantic weekend, whether it was with someone else or by yourself. Next week will see the new releases pick up with the likes of Far Cry Classic
, World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition
(officially) and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
, among others.
