Let's Talk with bigeasy97

By Cindy Minguez, 4 years ago
Hello, everyone! This week, our special guest is bigeasy97, a law student, newlywed, and enthusiastic player. Welcome, bigeasy!

B1ue: Gamertags almost always tell something about their owners. Tell us about yours.

My gamertag is bigeasy97. When I created this account just over a year and half ago, I had a difficult time deciding what my gamertag should be. Since I just concluded my college playing career in football, I decided to take my name from a nickname that I had been known by since I was a young kid playing youth football. I was always a bigger kid, and sports came naturally to me. Coaches started to call me bigeasy because I made everything I did on the field look easy; 97 was my number in college, so I just combined my nickname and my playing number to get my gamertag.

B1ue: How long have you been gaming?

I started gaming when I was five-years old. My dad had a Super Nintendo, and I remember playing on that console for hours. I would regularly try to take down my dad in Street Fighter and had very little success in doing so. It was moments like those that really sparked my interest in games, and my passion for gaming has continued till this day and hopefully for many more years.

B1ue: So your dad's a gamer, too?

My Dad is the first generation gamer in my family, and it has continued on through me and my two brothers. I am, however, the first in my family to get hooked on achievements.

B1ue: What do your loved ones have to say about your gaming?

My parents don’t really say too much about my gaming because it doesn’t interfere with my real world responsibilities. The only restriction they put on my gaming as I was growing up was that if my grades started to decline then I would lose my gaming privileges, so I never allowed that to happen. My wife often comments that I’m a dork, but she really doesn’t mind me gaming either and actually supports my habit by being my co-op partner for those local co-op Kinect achievements.

B1ue: Assuming you’re not a professional gamer, what’s your day job?

I am a full-time law school student, as well as a part-time merchandiser for a sales and marketing firm.

B1ue: What other hobbies do you enjoy?

I try to hit the gym whenever I can; when I am able to work out, it helps me regain my focus and release some stress that law school places upon me. When I am simply too tired from work and school to go to the gym, I enjoy reading a good book as well.

B1ue: Tell us about your home life – parents, spouse, children, pets?

I recently married the love of my life this past November. She is my best friend, and I am fortunate to have her in my life. She has been my biggest support in life by encouraging me to take chances to reach for my dreams. If it was not for her, I would not be where I am today. We share our home with our three dogs.

B1ue: Of what real life achievement are you most proud? Would you give us some details?

The proudest achievement of my life is marrying my beautiful wife. She is truly my best friend, and every other real life achievement I unlock from here on out will be because of her. Knowing that I have someone who provides so much encouragement and support for everything that I do makes me feel like I can accomplish anything.

B1ue: That's so lovely. I wish you both the best of everything. toast

What’s your favorite game of all time on any console? What makes it special?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on Xbox. I have always been a huge Star Wars fan, and this game allowed me to live out an epic story within the Star Wars universe. I found myself coming back to this game time and time again because it was a story that was completely new and had me wanting to discover everything there was to know about the time and place within the Star Wars universe that this game took place in, and that is what made this game special.

B1ue: Do you remember the first game you played? What’s your fondest memory of it?

First game I remember playing was Street Fighter. Sitting down and playing against my dad after he would get home from work was something that I will always remember, and it is moments like those that I hope to share with my children one day.

B1ue: If some evil spell allowed you to own only a single game for the rest of your life, what would it be? Why?

At this time I would have to say Defiance. I loved the show, and I love the game. I have not been able to sink too many hours into the game yet because I know a game like this would take too much of my attention away from my studies. But if I could only play one game for the rest of my life, then I would want it to be an RPG set within a sci-fi world that I really enjoy.

B1ue: What part of the world do you hail from? If I were to visit, what sights should I see?

I live in Southern California. If you were to visit, I would recommend that you spend some time at the beach cities, all of which provide many sources of entertainment, as well as many good food options. There is also Hollywood and Pasadena. When people who are not from the area come to visit and want to see Los Angeles, the LA they know from T.V. and movies is usually the Hollywood and Pasadena area. We also have Disneyland in Southern California; this is the original Walt Disney theme park and even as a local, I and my wife spend dozens of days each and every year visiting Disneyland.

B1ue: That would be such a blast! I envy you both the beaches and Disneyland.

Any games you regret putting on your gamertag?

I really do not regret placing any games on my gamertag. There have been some exceptionally bad games that I have dreaded going back to as I tried to complete them. Some of those games have been https://www.trueachievements.com/BCFxDoug-Williams-Ed/a....htm, Duke Nukem Forever, and most currently, Ride to Hell: Retribution.

B1ue: If you were forced to change your gamertag, what would you change it to? What does the new tag reflect about you?

This is a hard question because I have never considered changing my gamertag, but if I had to, I would simply go with Suits. Suits is also the name of a legal show that I have been addicted to since it started up a couple of years ago. The show is a drama based around a corporate law firm. I am wanting to become a corporate lawyer myself, so I feel like this tag would come closest to reflecting me in real life.

B1ue: Tell us about your gamer pic. Why did you choose that one?

Captain America has always been my favorite Superhero. I am an avid collector of the comic books and have every issue dating back to 2002; this was the year that I started to get into comics. I am starting to hunt down some of the older issues and hope to have a complete collection one day. This will take a lot of money to achieve, so hopefully I have a very successful law career ahead of me.

B1ue: Do you have any particular gaming pet peeves?

The only one that I can think of is rage quitting. I use to play a lot of Madden online, and nothing would drive me more crazy then someone who rage quits as soon as you go up by more than one touchdown on them.

B1ue: What upcoming game are you most looking forward to?

My most anticipated game is Destiny . From what they have shown so far, the game looks stunning visually. I also love RPG's, so I was going to check this game out regardless of who was making it, but knowing that this is being created by Bungie, my level of excitement rose even higher. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game.

B1ue: What game are you most proud of completing? Why?

Currently my proudest completion is the The Gunstringer. I am proud of it because of the high TA ratio, but to me the game was not as difficult as the ratio would leave one to believe. The completion just took time and patience because anyone who owns a Kinect knows just how frustrating things came become when the Kinect refuses to recognize you.

B1ue: If you found yourself dropped into a video game, which video game character would you most want to have your back?

I would want to have Marcus Phoenix from the Gear of War franchise to have my back. He is a character who can lead when you run into a situation that you do not know how to overcome. He does not back down from a fight and won’t let you down. Plus, he is just a badass.

B1ue: In the same scenario, what character/creature would you most/least like to see headed your way?

I would most like to see Master Chief headed my way; when you see him joining the fight, then you know things are about to get real. I would not like to see the lambent from Gears of War; this enemy was almost as bad as the flood in my opinion. They just do not know when to give up. When you see this enemy start to come at you, then you can expect to be involved in a long drawn out fight.

B1ue: Any characters you would like seen thrown into video game hell?

The Flood from the Halo series. The Flood in the first Halo served its purpose; it gave you a real sense of uncertainty as you fought against an unfamiliar foe, but I felt like the Flood became over-used in the next couple of installments in the series.

B1ue: Ever had any bad experiences online? How did you handle it?

I think by now, everyone has had some bad online experiences. I just let these things go; a game is not important enough to get riled up about. These experiences have been easy enough for me to just put behind me and keep moving forward.

B1ue: Do you prefer single player or multi-player?

I prefer single player. Don’t get me wrong. I love to play online with friends, but I just don’t have the time these days to play online. Plus, I get a lot of my gaming in while I am at school. I usually find myself with an hour or two between classes, so I go into the student lounge and play on the consoles that my school has available to us. These consoles are older versions of the 360 and do not have internet capabilities, which prevents me from playing online during these parts of the day.

B1ue: Do you have a favorite group of friends you like to play with? If so, how did you meet?

Right now it has to be the group that I have been playing with every Monday night as we work through the co-op in Syndicate. We are all members of the Achievement Hounds community. This group of guys just makes the long road to completion in this game a breeze. I look forward to playing through many more games with this group in the future.

B1ue: If you could have a multi-player session with anyone in the world, whom would you choose? Why?

Dwight Freeney. He is a pro American Football player and used to play for my favorite team, the Indianapolis Colts. He was one of my favorite players when he was on the team and is an avid gamer. It would be a lot of fun being able to play through some games with an athlete that I tried to model my play after.

B1ue: What other consoles do you own? What are your favorites on those platforms?

I currently do not own any other console. I used to own a Playstation 3 but had to sell it to help bring in a little extra cash for some school expenses. The Last of Us was my favorite game before selling it this past summer.

B1ue: Have you ever had a game you really looked forward to that you were disappointed in when it finally arrived? Tell us about it.

I was very disappointed in Aliens: Colonial Marines. I was hyped up for this game and was hoping that it would be the Aliens game that I have been waiting for. Well, I am still waiting for that game. This game was plagued with terrible visuals, poor dialogue, and a story which did not seem to flow fluidly. It is frustrating when you later learn that the developer who was paid to create the game outsourced the game, so they could focus on another project.

B1ue: Tell us about your gaming set-up.

I have a pretty standard set-up at the moment. I play on a 32-inch television, and my set-up is located in my living room. Being set up in the living room provides me with the opportunity to move furniture around and give me enough space when I decide that I want to play some Kinect. I do wish that I could do more with my set-up, but being young, married, and a full time student doesn’t really allow that to happen.

(B1ue: My apologies about the pictures; they lost some clarity when I enlarged them.)

B1ue: How do you use TA? Tracking, walkthroughs, solutions, sessions?

I really try to take advantage of everything that TA provides to the community. The walkthroughs and solutions really enable me to get the most out of my games with the limited time that I have to play.

B1ue: Do you ever contribute solutions?

I have not yet contributed solutions to a game. I have been wanting to contribute a solution, but there are not really any achievements that I can contribute to; the solutions that I utilize are typically the most efficient way to attain any given achievement.

B1ue: How has your gaming changed or evolved since coming to TA?

I have become much more efficient in terms of achievement hunting since joining TA. I am now able to draw out a plan as to what I want to accomplish in any game before I sit down to play, and this is because I utilize walkthroughs and solutions on TA.

B1ue: What do you like and dislike most about the site?

I like the way the achievement lists are laid out on TA; it provides an easy way to look up achievements in any game and provides you with the option to look at only the achievements that you have yet to earn in a game. I use this option frequently so that I can focus on what achievements I need to work on. In terms of things I dislike, there really isn’t anything that I feel is lacking on the site. I like it how it currently is.

B1ue: How did you learn about TA? Have you signed up any friends to the website?

I learned about TA from a guy I worked with at Target. I had just created my account and started to get into achievements. He told me about TA, so I decided to check out the site and have been a member ever since.

B1ue: Have you made friends here?

I have made quite a few friends here on TA. Overall the community is great, and you run into a lot of nice people when you participate in boosting sessions.

B1ue: If you have a pro account, what’s the most number of forced scans you’ve done in a day?

The most forced scans I have done in a day was 20+ during this past extra life event. I like to force a scan when I unlock an achievement, so when you game for 25 straight hours, a guy like me is going to be wanting his profile scanned quite a few times.

B1ue: If you could have a game handcrafted just for you, what would your perfect game be?

This is a very tough question considering that after playing quite a few games, you start to see a little of everything you would want in a game. To put it simply, I would like to see an open world RPG set in a Sci-fi world where you truly are able to mold the story to how you want to play the game. I know this model has been seen in multiple games, but I can never get enough of these games.

B1ue: Is there anything you’d like to see added to TA’s functionality?

Like I said in a previous question, I do not feel like TA is missing anything in my eyes.

B1ue: Why do you choose TA over other gaming sites?

The site here at TA is more accessible and feels more open than other sites. This site is also very user friendly and easy to navigate around all the features that are built into the site.

B1ue: Do you have a “claim to fame” in gaming? If so, what is it?

I really do not have a claim to fame in gaming yet. So far everything I have attained has already been attained by others. I am not disappointed in this. I am a competitor and hope to earn my very own “claim to fame” in gaming one day.

B1ue: Is there anything in particular you want the TA community to know about you?

I feel like I have spoken a lot about myself through the earlier questions, but if people have any other specific questions, then they could always send me a private message. I never mind chatting with another member of the TA community.

B1ue: Is there anything I haven’t asked that you want to talk about?

I think these questions pretty much covered everything.

B1ue: Any shout-outs you want to make before we go?

I just want to thank the members of TA and the Achievement Hound community for making the community an awesome place where Gamerscore addicts to go to and work together in unlocking achievement after achievement.

And that's it for this week. Thanks so much to bigeasy97 for taking the time to tell us a little about his world. Come back in a couple of weeks for our next guest.

Come back to see me, and...let's talk. wave
