Human Element Announced for Consoles

By Keith Gray,
Robotoki, a brand-new development team led by Robert Bowling (formerly involved with Infinity Ward), has announced that Human Element will be its debut project. The new title is expected for release in "late 2015".

Human Element is an ambitious and "innovative open-world survival game, which challenges players to rebuild society in the aftermath 35 years after a zombie apocalypse and adapt as the world evolves based on their actions". Details about the gameplay style and storyline on which Human Element will be built are understandably scarce at present, with the exception of the one important piece of information. Bowling has confirmed that the game will run on the CryEngine, that has previously been used by Crytek for other recent games.

Robert Bowling explains, below, why the decision was made to employ the CryEngine as the game engine for Human Element:
The ambitious narrative and gameplay of Human Element required an innovative set of features in order to achieve our vision... CRYENGINE is the perfect fit for us because it delivers so many powerful features straight out of the box such as the physical based shading system and the infinite terrain from segmented worlds to create a massive open world experience but still allow the visual fidelity and detail our players expect from a first person experience from our team
Crytek's Business Development Director, Carl Jones has also highlighted why they believe the partnership will be beneficial:
The team at Robotoki have earned countless plaudits in the games industry, and their talent is obvious from the amazing work we've seen them producing with CRYENGINE already. We look forward to offering them the same high level of support we promise to all CRYENGINE licensees as they work to turn their ideas into a reality
We expect more details to be drip-fed soon enough about Human Element, so stay tuned for more on this promising project.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Human Element achievements.
