Kinect Sports Rivals will soon be hitting shelves around the world. After warming up during the extended Pre Season, gamers will finally be able to test their mettle for real as they compete in six sports -- bowling, climbing, wake racing, target shooting, soccer and tennis. Microsoft has decided to add an extra edge to the proceedings by announcing the Kinect Sports Rivals World Championship.

Beginning on April 8th in the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Brazil, players will compete for the top spots of the leaderboards in bowling, climbing & wake racing. The competition begins on April 11th for gamers in the UK, France and Germany. Players will need to work their way through the game to unlock each sport before tournament play is available. You have until June 6th to go for that leading score. For full terms and conditions, head here.

• A water sports adventure in Bora Bora

The players that finish in second to eleventh place will get cash prizes too.
