We've said in the past that Microsoft is going to remain dedicated to improving the One, and details on some of the next incoming improvements have emerged. The last update to the console focused on fixing the friends and party systems, but some of the upcoming updates will be focusing on making the entertainment aspect of the console more enjoyable. Improvements to Xbox Video, SmartGlass, OneGuide, and DVR functionality highlights the entertainment features which will be getting a boost.

Larry Hryb is joined by Ben Smith of the Xbox TV team to discuss the new improvements that are incoming:

For those who don't want to watch the video, let's take a look at the full list of features coming to these entertainment fields.

Xbox Video: "Rent Once, Play Anywhere"
Xbox Video users will soon be able to rent (or buy) a TV show or movie on one platform, and then immediately pick up where you left off on another. This eventually will be available for all platforms including the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, and online at XboxVideo.com.
SmartGlass Improvement 4/1/14

Improved SmartGlass Navigation
- Easily navigate game options so you can quickly get to the full list of Achievements, challenges, and game clips without jumping through multiple screens.
- View recent players to find people you recently gamed with, easily add them as a friend, or issue a rematch challenge.
- Sort the Friends list by online status for a quick view of what your friends are doing.
- View your Activity Feed in a way that matches the view on your console
- Launch an app in Snap from your mobile device, and when you’re done, simply unsnap it.
- Receive Xbox Live messaging alerts on your mobile device, making it easier to stay in touch with friends when you’re on the go.
- More control over recording and watching shows on your cable DVR. SmartGlass devices will now be able to act more like a universal remote, allowing you to have more control over your cable box overall without having to grab different remotes.
- OneGuide will now be available on SmartGlass devices, giving you the ability to do everything you can do on the One version of OneGuide, but also with the added feature of Recent Channels.
The complete OneGuide experience, as well as Kinect voice commands for the set-top box and other AV equipment, will finally be making its way to users in Canada and in Europe. The newest features will be available to select preview Xbox Live members, and will eventually be making their way to everyone else in the coming months.
