TA Gaming Stats - April 7th to 13th 2014

This report is for the period April 7th to April 13th 2014.

After a short break over Easter, we're back to bring you a double bill of stats here at TA. This article focuses on the second week of April, whilst the other one looks at the third week.

Games Started
30,283 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 43,393 games between them (1,889 different games).

We're spoiled with new releases for the One here in the forms of Kinect Sports Rivals, LEGO The Hobbit (Xbox One) and Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut. The arm-flailer does best and manages to break the 1,000 starters mark in first with over 1,300. The LEGO title doesn't break 1,000 starters with 800 in second. Part of that may be the starters for this game are split across the different console generations. Finally, the first ID@Xbox program release for independent developers to self-publish to the console takes fourth place with just under 500 starters. Although these numbers do put the games at the top end of the table, they definitely aren't high, especially when compared to other new relases on the console such as Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (Xbox One)'s release week 2,200 starters and Titanfall (Xbox One)'s...20,000.

Although the numbers for the One version have settled well under the 1,000 mark now, the release of the 360 version of Titanfall gives the franchise a number injection with 3,000 big ones in first. Although, like I said before, the One version managed 20,000 starters on launch so this version is definitely the weedy little brother of the two.

Still pulling in high numbers in second is "Games with Gold" freebie Hitman: Absolution, which drops from 7,000 to 2,600 starters, just 400 less than Titanfall.

New release LEGO The Hobbit manages roughly half the numbers that it gets on the One in fourth, whilst Remember Me proves a popular Deal of the Week title in sixth with 260 starters.

Still pulling in decent numbers is the Warface Beta, which grabs over 1,100 starters, although that's about half of last week's and a quarter of the week before. I wonder if the numbers will spike again in the stats from when the game was taken out of beta on the 22nd. We'll find out next week.

With otherwise low numbers on the Arcade, the sales take control, with BattleBlock Theater, Charlie Murder, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet and CastleStorm all discounted in the Microsoft Studios Sale and getting between 140 and 260 starters thanks to it.

The Windows Phone table is almost a carbon copy of the previous week thanks to no new releases and deal title Asphalt 7: Heat (WP) not being popular enough to make the top ten. Previous deal title Halo: Spartan Assault (WP) manages to hang on in third, below the continuing popularity (and freeness) of Hexic (WP) and Angry Birds Rio (WP).

Hexic (Win 8) and Kingdoms & Lords (Win 8) continue to dominate on Windows 8. However, new release World Series of Poker: Full House Pro (Win 8) does its best to challenge them in third with over 200 starters. The game includes cross-platform play with the Arcade version, which was released back in September. Like the mobile version, Asphalt 7: Heat (Win 8) isn't a popular enough sale title to make the table, which means less than 50 people were lured by the same. Sad, really.

Games Completed
7,075 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,763 games between them (1,321 different games).

The "Devastation" DLC for Call of Duty: Ghosts (Xbox One) piles on more completions for the title, bringing it up from ninth with less than 50 to first with 150. Killer Instinct also gets a boost thanks to the "Fulgore" DLC, popping up in seventh place with 40 completions. The LEGO Movie Videogame (Xbox One) also gets a small bump from nearly 60 to over 80, putting it from sixth to second. MGS V: GZ sees a drop from over 110 to 70, slipping from first to fourth place, and sees a similar drop from 110 in second to 60 in fifth.

Proving a relatively easy completion, Strike Suit Zero takes ninth place with over 30 completions in its release week. Currently the game has a completion percentage of 14.21%.

Like the One version, Call of Duty: Ghosts jumps up the table. However, despite getting a similar number of completions at around 150, it doesn't get the top spot and has to settle with fourth.

The massive boost of Hitman: Absolution players helps boost the completions as well, putting it in second with 200, behind Dark Souls II, which has clawed its way up through the table since release and manages to take first place with over 210 completions, an unprecedented feat for the tough title.

Top Xbox 360 Retail Games Completed

The release of "Episode 3: A Crooked Mile" for The Wolf Among Us puts the game above its Telltale cousin, The Walking Dead: Season Two, with a big almost 1,500 completions. That's only slightly less than the previous episode managed but still less than half of the last Walking Dead episode.

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Games Completed

Angry Birds Rio continues to claim first place, actually growing in completions from 50 to 70, above the usual suspects. Then main change is FIFA 14 (WP) popping up in third place. Although, to be honest, with only 7 completions separating third and tenth place, there's probably little in it.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

After leading for two weeks, Puzzle by Nikoli X Sudoku (Win 8) has to share the top spot with Microsoft Mahjong (Win 8) with just under 60 completions.

Achievements Won
69,101 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 739,463 achievements online between them (52,039 different achievements).

Although Kinect Sports Rivals was the most started game and CoD Ghosts was the most completed, Killer Instinct takes the top spot for most achievements earned, thanks to the "Fulgore" DLC. It accounts for five spots on the table, including the top two. Kinect Sports Rivals fills in most of the gaps, with Titanfall slipping into the bottom.

Titanfall and Hitman share the table, with the former claiming six spots, including the top two, and the latter taking up the remaining four.

Top Xbox 360 Retail Achievements Won

All seven achievements for "Episode 3" of Wolf Among Us take the top of the table, as these Telltale titles so often do. The three easiest Warface achievements claim eighth, ninth and tenth.

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Achievements Won

It would almost be the same table as the previous week if Angry Birds Rio didn't pop up in the bottom two spots.

Top Windows Phone Achievements Won

Whereas this pretty much is the previous week's table.

The gap between Action-Adventure and Shooter closes this week, with only 30,000 separating the two genres. Action-Adventure retains the edge though, despite Titanfall giving Shooter a boost. Sports gets a kick in numbers thanks to Kinect Sports Rivals, although its not enough to shift it from fifth place.
