2K Games have announced today that, comes fall this year, BioShock 2
will receive a DLC pack extending the single player experience with 'narrative driven' content. Up until now previous DLC for the game has either bundled new additions into the multi-player mode, and the Protector Trials DLC, whilst it expanded the single player's longevity, did nothing to enhance the world and story of Rapture.
'Minerva's Den', however, will offer players the kind of expansion they've really been awaiting. The content will introduce new characters and locations, in what is being classed as a 'substantial addition' to the title.
[Minerva's Den] introduces new characters, locations and mystery to the fiction-rich world of Rapture. Minerva’s Den is a self-contained narrative experience that puts players in the role of an all-new character who has teamed up with Brigid Tenenbaum to unravel a dictator’s stranglehold on a key district in the distinctive city under the sea.
Expect this DLC to be your last for BioShock 2
however as Christoph Haartman, President of 2K, stated that this will be a 'fitting conclusion to the BioShock 2
saga". The blurb for the DLC sounds positively exciting with a ton of new features and possibilities being incorporated into the mix:
Prepare to explore Rapture Central Computing, a never-before-seen district of the undersea city, and uncover the dark secrets hidden in its founder's past. Wield new high-tech weaponry and a devastating new Plasmid to best the towering threats in Minerva's Den: more dangerous Splicers that command the power of the elements, upgraded Security Bots that throw rockets and lightning bolts, and even a never-before-seen type of Big Daddy.
"A never-before-seen type of Big Daddy"!? Sold! Don't expect this article to finish up with a release date, sadly no information is available to that extent yet. But keep your eyes on the homepage. When we know, you will too.
