Big news in the gaming world as Microsoft announces, in a partnership with BesTV, that the Xbox One is coming to China in September of 2014.
Today marks a monumental day for Xbox, as together with our partner BesTV New Media Co., we announced we will bring Xbox One to China in September of this year. This is a historic moment in our partnership as we work toward the first official Xbox launch in China. Xbox One will also be the first system of its kind to launch in China.
This is huge news due to the fact that gaming consoles were actually banned throughout China until this past January. However, there are still some restrictions as foreign companies must partner with local companies to produce gaming consoles. Microsoft is doing so by partnering with BesTV, which is partially owned by the Chinese government. Xbox China will be headed by new general manager, Enwei Xie.
A video of the momentous announcement can be seen below.
Personally, I think that this can be a huge step towards increasing the gaming community worldwide and, hopefully, opening the door for future releases in China and many other countries worldwide.
