Powerstar Golf Goes Free-to-Play

When the Xbox One Games with Gold promotion was announced earlier this month, some people expected Powerstar Golf to be amongst one of the first titles to be included. This is now unlikely to happen at all, because the game has now adopted a free-to-play model.

Starting from today, new players can download the game for free from here. However, once the title has downloaded, players now have to pay for the courses afterwards. The free version includes one hole from each of the four courses and a selection of the career events. You can earn XP, credits and unlock gear that will be saved and transferred to your profile if you decide to purchase the full version of the game.

Your first option is to buy each of the four courses separately, each of which come with a golfer, a caddy and new career events. The "Rocky Ridge Game Pack" includes golfer Kiara O'Flynn. The "City Park Game Pack" comes with Henry Copperbottom and two additional characters. Master Laoshi comes with the "Emperor's Garden Game Pack" while Dominique Ryder is included in the "Burning Sands Game Pack". Each of these game packs costs $5.99 / £4.79.

Your second option is to buy the new "Full Game Unlock" at the game's original price of $19.99 / £15.99. This includes the four courses, six characters, all 45 career events "and more!" If you decide to buy one of the separate course packs first, there is an option to purchase the "Full Game Unlock" in-game at a discounted price. You can find this offer by going to the Unlock Game Packs option on the game's Main Menu.

In addition to these courses, players purchasing the "Full Game Unlock" will get today's additional DLC course, "Coyote Canyon", for no extra cost. Players who had already purchased the game prior to today's alterations will also get the "Coyote Canyon" pack for FREE in the form of a title update. The pack adds ten new achievements worth a total of 250G.
