Since Games for Windows Live (GFWL) was rumoured to shut down in July of this year, multiple developers have taken action to ensure that players can continue to play if and when the service does indeed go down. Today, we get to add CAPCOM to that list of developers, as they have outlined their plans for Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (PC).

Both the Steam and retail versions of the game are set to transfer over to Steamworks on May 30th. Don't despair however, as the transfer is optional and the GFWL version of the game will continue to function as normal "for the foreseeable future". If you wish to transfer over to the Steamworks version and bought the game via Steam, you will find a new Steamworks version of the game in your Steam library available to download for free. Retail package owners meanwhile will be able to redeem the game on Steam using the GFWL activation codes (found on the back of the instruction manual) in the "Activate a Product on Steam…" option on the Steam client. If players so wish, they will also be able to bring over their progress from the GFWL version into the new Steamworks version of the game. Sadly, any DLC, paid or free, for the GFWL version will not be transferred over in this process.

This transaction over to Steamworks for Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (PC) is set to take place on May 30th. As previously mentioned, even after this GFWL versions of the game will continue to function as normal.
