In what must go down as one of the stranger stories of today, Telltale Games, Zen Studios and Robert Kirkman have collaborated to turn Telltale's critically acclaimed first season of The Walking Dead
(based on the original comic by Kirkman) into a pinball table in Zen Studios' Pinball FX2
The pinball table shall somehow contain the famous choice and consequence based gameplay from season one's five episodes of The Walking Dead
, with various scenarios that include searching for supplies, who to leave behind, and who to save in a walker attack. Not only that, the table will include a variety of locations from the game, such as Clementine's tree-house and the pharmacy in Macon.
Despite how strange it may seem, the collaboration seems to have been well-received on both sides with Mel Kirk, Vice President of Publishing at Zen Studios describing working with Telltale as "a hallmark moment" and that Zen Studios "truly cherish the opportunity to work with such amazing visionaries". Telltale Games were just as complimentary with Steve Allison, Senior Vice President of Publishing saying that "Zen knocked it out of the park with their interpretation".
For those of you like myself who can't quite believe it and who will be at E3, you'll be able to get a hands-on proof of the new table at Telltale's booth in the Concourse Hall. For the rest of us, we'll have to wait until later this summer to download this most odd of expansions.
