EA Sports Announces NBA LIVE 15

I'm not afraid to say that I was a fan of the NBA LIVE franchise when it was a bit more lively. I had plenty of fun with 08, 09, and then the last fully playable title from the series, NBA LIVE 10. NBA ELITE 11 was cancelled, then 12 and 13 were non-existent. NBA LIVE 14 is available for the Xbox One, but has been poorly received from our community here at TA from the very small number of people who've played the game, and it already has one discontinued achievement in its list too!

With the fresh announcement of NBA LIVE 15, could this be the time that EA Sports comes thundering back into sports fans' lives with a five-star NBA game die-hard LIVE fans have been waiting for? It's going to be a very tough challenge to win back the trust and loyalty of fans. Sean O' Brien, Executive Producer of the title, has an open letter to share with the fans regarding the upcoming basketball title:

As I’ve said previously, we know we fell short in two major areas with NBA LIVE 14. 5-on-5 gameplay didn’t have the depth and polish of an EA SPORTS game and our visuals just weren’t up to expectations for a next-gen title. We’ve been laser-focused on making sure that this isn’t the case with NBA LIVE 15 and I’m really excited with our progress in those two areas.

If you’ve been following our website and social channels over the last several months, you’ve likely seen the behind-the-scenes photos of our head scans with several NBA players. We’ve scanned a majority of the league, and the new player heads, combined with refined player models and new lighting, makes our characters look really amazing. I’m looking forward to sharing more details in the next few weeks, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with everything we’ve done with our visuals this cycle.
With plenty of hard work and dedication, the team are aiming for the game to be more fun, more realistic, and with a better overall flow to the gameplay. The development team has been talking with NBA coaches "to better understand their schemes and philosophies, which we can then implement in-game". EA are also looking to keep all factors smooth and enjoyable with the ball. Shooting, passing, dribbling, and the responsiveness of players will all hopefully see a major improvement this year.

Last but not least, I want to take a moment to thank all of our loyal fans who continue to believe in us. Your feedback, encouragement and positivity is genuinely appreciated and has helped further motivate our team to make really big strides this year. You all are the heartbeat of this franchise, and I can’t wait to share with you how far we’ve come. It’s going to be a great year, and we can’t wait to get back out on the floor.
Are you still a loyal fan of the NBA LIVE franchise, or has the NBA 2K series converted you over to their offerings of basketball gaming?

NBA LIVE 15 is set for release on Xbox One on October 7th, 2014.
