At last year's E3, one of the biggest revelations to come out of the conferences, in my opinion at least, was that Star Wars Battlefront
had returned, and that DICE was going to be working on it. Since then, news about the game has been relatively non-existent, but at this year's EA conference, Battlefront
kicked things off. This year's sampling didn't offer much more than the short teaser from the year before, but it did give a peak behind the scenes into what sort of commitment DICE is placing into nailing this game on the head.
Whether it is visiting the Lucas archives, or the actual sets where the original films were shot, DICE is putting a full effort into capturing the magic of Star Wars
. We may only have early in-engine footage for now, but it is looking gorgeous so far. With so much emphasis in the video placed on settings such as Hoth and Endor, it is a safe bet that the original trilogy will be featured in the game. Whether the prequel episodes will also be included in the game is yet to be seen. Star Wars Episode VII
is also releasing in 2015, so it will be interesting to see if that makes an appearance as well.
EA has not given a specific release date for Star Wars: Battlefront
as of yet, instead saying that they will announce a date when they feel "comfortable."
