TA Gaming Stats - June 23rd to 29th 2014

By Chewie, 4 years ago
This report is for the period June 23rd to June 29th 2014.

Hello everyone!! After a couple of weeks away from the treehouse for some much needed rehab recuperation, I'm back with a triple threat of stats to catch up on and a new group of Statisticles ready and willing to handle them. Well, I say "willing", I mean "forced at gunpoint". Parts Two and Three are here and here.

Games Started
35,217 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 53,073 games between them (1,982 different games).

Following the previous week's lead, the new releases continue to roll off the assembly line this week. Bursting into first place with over 1,800 starters we get emotional war adventure Valiant Hearts: The Great War (Xbox One), which manages to outdo the "Games with Gold" freebies Max: The Curse of Brotherhood (Xbox One) and Halo: Spartan Assault (Xbox One). Next up, retro remake Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition takes fourth place with 1,200 starters. Finally, Sniper Elite 3 (Xbox One) and Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark (Xbox One) pull up in fifth and sixth with almost 1,200 and under 1,000 starters each. It's interesting to see that the digital only games are outdoing the disc offerings and that a brand new IP is doing so much better than the sequels and remakes. Unfortunately, Contrast (Xbox One) doesn't lure enough players in to make the table.

Previous new releases, Outlast and Sixty Second Shooter Prime stick around the table in seventh and ninth, but EA SPORTS UFC makes a big drop from second off the table entirely.

The 360 table shows that, nowadays, if you have a new release, the One is the place to be. Sure, GRID Autosport makes second place, but it does so with fewer than 600 starters, whilst Sniper Elite 3 manages fifth with fewer than 350 and Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark settles for eighth with little over 300.

"Games with Gold" freebie Super Street Fighter IV continues to rule the table, despite dropping from over 4,000 to under 1,500 starters. Elsewhere, Payday 2 and Diablo III pop up in seventh and tenth as the most popular title in this week's sales.

Other freebie Charlie Murder continues to prove more popular than Street Fighter, despite also seeing a significant drop in starters from over 10,000 to under 4,000. Although it did so well on the One, the 360 version of Valiant Hearts: The Great War only gets under 250 starters, putting it in third.

The Fable and SEGA sales this week put a selection of titles on the table, with Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, Fable Heroes, Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit and Sonic The Hedgehog 2 all taking places with between 130 and 240 starters.

Nothing new or interesting to see here. Move along.

Top Windows Phone Games Started

Nothing new or interesting to see here. Move al... Oh, wait. There is something. A new free Microsoft title gets a release in the form of Microsoft Sudoku (Win 8) (and its regional equivalent Microsoft Sudoku (JP) (Win 8)). Over 550 TA'ers started the general version, with over 150 starting the Japanese version, putting them easily in first and second place and further filling up the table with these freebies. (To all those who begged to see W8 stats - "Told you")

Games Completed
8,616 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 12,489 games between them (1,322 different games).

The easiest of the new releases by a long way proves to be Another World. Currently almost 70% of players have finished the retro adventure and it got almost 730 completions in release week, putting it in first place above https://www.trueachievements.com/Peggle-2-Xbox-One/achi....htm, which claims almost 600 completions thanks to the relatively easy completion of the Jimmy Lightning Master Pack DLC. That's not to say the other new titles are particularly tough; Valiant Hearts grabs fifth place with almost 300 completions, with Contrast following shortly behind, despite not getting enough new starters to make that table.

Top Xbox One Games Completed

Murdered: Soul Suspect and Saints Row: The Third switch places at the top of the table, with only a single completion separating them. The rest of the table is very similar to previous weeks with one notable exception. For some strange reason, Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth gets almost 50 completions and claims ninth place. Apart from the fact that the game is generally considered one of the fastest completions on the entire site, can anyone suggest what gave it a sudden boost up the table? Unless...unless there are now so few people completing 360 games that it just appeared naturally?!? Surely not.

Top Xbox 360 Retail Games Completed

Charlie Murder kills its way up the table from fifth to first, adding an extra 200 completions to its tally to almost 340. Of the sales titles, only Virtua Fighter 5 makes it onto the table, in fifth with 85 completions.

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Games Completed

Nope, nothing to see here either.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

With daily and monthly challenge achievements spread across the year, the new Sudoku games currently sit uncompleted (and will until May 2015 at the earliest) and therefore miss out on spots on the table, leaving it looking very much like previous weeks.

Achievements Won
76,256 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 953,417 achievements online between them (53,644 different achievements).

A selection of achievements from Titanfall (Xbox One)'s new Expedition DLC take four spots on the table, including the top three, showing that despite the amount of new games being started, the popular shooter is still the most played Xbox One game. Valiant Hearts makes a valiant effort with five spots, above one-off places for Peggle's DLC and Max.

Top Xbox One Achievements Won

Although Street Fighter manages to retain the top three spots, most of the rest of the table is taken up by GRID, with Dark Souls mopping up the remaining places.

Top Xbox 360 Retail Achievements Won

Charlie Murders the whole table again this week with the exact some achievements in the same order as the previous week, just with significantly lower numbers.

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Achievements Won

Yeh, yeh, yeh.

Top Windows Phone Achievements Won

Sudoku claims an easy clean streak, with the majority of its achievements easy to earn.

Top Windows 8 Achievements Won

Thanks to Valiant Hearts, Action-Adventure manages to hold fast with over 9 million at the top of the table, almost pushing past the 10 million mark. The combined efforts of Sniper Elite and Transformers helps push Shooter up from third back into second, going from 4.5 to 6.7 million. Meanwhile, Another World gives Platformer a boost in numbers and GRID does the same for Racing, but neither do enough to shift their positions on the table.
