If responses to our news articles is any indication, quite a number of you readers were raised in the glory of the 16-bit generation. Just looking at the response to http://www.trueachievements.com/Pier-Solar-HD/achieveme....htm coming to consoles showed that there is a love and appreciation for the titles of that era, and that you are eager to see more like them.
If you're one of those people, then you'll likely be excited to know that, thanks again to Kickstarter, another such title is coming to us in the form of Midora. Here's a description of the game's story straight from the developer, Epic Minds:
Enter Snow, the lead character of this adventure. A young girl growing up on the edge of Seawind, she embarks on what starts as just a simple chore, only to uncover the catalyst in a war as old as the world she lives in. On her journey, she will encounter help and obstacles in various forms. Elderly town matrons, kings, long extinct races, burly blacksmiths, and the living elements themselves will play a role in Midora's newest story, but it falls to Snow herself to see it to the end.
Throughout the game, gamers will be tasked with going through twelve dungeons. As it is a call back to titles like The Legend of Zelda or Secret of Mana, it should come as no surprise to you that these dungeons will each contain a unique item that will make proceeding through that dungeon possible. These items, such as the wind fan and the vine whip, will also have multiple functions.
Gamers can also expect to see a wide variety of enemies and items against the brightly colored landscape of Midora.
Though Midora did not meet its stretch goal to come to the One and 360, don't fret. The developer has promised that, irrespective of making those goals, the game will come to consoles. It's just a matter of the game taking a little longer to make it there. The game is estimated to be complete by January 2015, with a 360 and One launch some time thereafter.
