2K has confirmed that another global superstar is collaborating with the publisher to help make sure that NBA 2K15
becomes the blockbuster sports iteration that fans are hoping for. The new superstar does not shine on the court alongside Kevin Durant
though; instead the newest member of the team is Pharrell Williams. The Grammy award winner, who has worked with the likes of Daft Punk, will produce the soundtrack for NBA 2K15
. 2K have not yet released details of the songs that will feature in the upcoming title, however.
Pharrell certainly seems to be enjoying the new partnership, if the following statement is anything to go by:
It was a cool experience. I tried to curate songs that were diverse but yet still proved to be motivational to gamers... It was important to me that the music complemented the on-court action of NBA basketball in NBA 2K15. I hope everyone enjoys it.
Alfie Brody, Vice President of Marketing for NBA 2K15
, also echoes Pharrell's thoughts on the recent collaboration:
Pharrell’s passion and reputation as a visionary producer and expertise from working with the NBA will be evident in the largest and most eclectic NBA 2K soundtrack ever... We really listened to our fans’ feedback on how we could improve their experience from a music standpoint, and we’re confident Pharrell’s collaboration in NBA 2K15 will impress players as much as it’s impressed us.
2K has now released cover art that features the aforementioned Kevin Durant, who previously highlighted the available pre-order bonuses
for NBA 2K15
Similarly, KD appears in another trailer to speak directly to Pharrell to tell him that "your time has come". No pressure!
releases on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on October 7th, 2014 for North America and October 10th for other regions.
