Don't worry, it's not a sequel to the hilariously awful retail Bionic Commando, but to the old school XBLA game Bionic Commando: Rearmed. Calm down!
Capcom have released a handful of screenshots and new information about the upcoming Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2, seeing a return to Nathan Spencer and his bionic arm's 3D side-scrolling adventures.
The biggest new feature that the sequel boasts is the return of two-player co-op, Capcom boasting that it's "better than ever." Not only that, but the game now includes this new-fangled "jumping" ability. Never heard of it myself. The game will also include new weapons, attacks and enhancements for Spencer's bionic arm.
The sequel will also have much better camera functionality, and include a retro NES-inspired music score, produced by the same team by the originals' soundtrack. The game's cut scenes are being designed by the art studio Massive Black, whose previous design work include BioShock 2, Dragon Age: Origins and The Saboteur as well as some games called God of War III and InFamous. Nope, me neither.
Quoted below is details about the game's plot directly from Capcom's press release:
Spencer will have to face his greatest challenge yet as General Sabio, a new technologically sophisticated foe, is on the brink of launching a deadly missile attack.
Nathan Spencer will make use of his trademark tool – his bionic grappling hook – to grab, swing and leap through series of lush new environments. He’ll be met by plenty of gun-toting soldiers and mechanized threats ready to give him a hostile greeting. Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 improves upon the visual achievements of its predecessor with the addition of more detailed character models, textures, and vibrant colors. New player mechanics will add another strategic layer of platforming to the overall experience and the famous bionic arm will be getting a major makeover delivering a more dynamic bionic experience to the player.

The game is set for release in Q1 2011, but no price has been announced yet.
