Yesterday, at San Diego Comic Con 2014, 343 Industries and Scott Free Productions showed off a first look at the new live action series Halo: Nightfall
. At the show a panel consisting of Executive Producer Kiki Wolfkill, Franchise Development Director Frank O’Connor, Scott Free TV President David Zucker, and several Halo: Nightfall
cast members gave new insights into the plot and production of the series, along with a slick debut trailer.
Set between the events of Halo 4
and Halo 5: Guardians
, Halo: Nightfall follows lead character Jameson Locke (Mike Colter, Million Dollar Baby
, Zero Dark Thirty
) and his team as they are caught in a terrorist attack on the distant world of Sedra. Led by Locke, his team of Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) agents must team up with a distrustful Sedran commander. As the plot thickens, our heroes encounter a strange and dangerous artifact that will force the team into a desperate fight for survival (all manner of drama to ensue as well). Agent Locke is a new character in the Halo
universe who is set to play a major role in Halo 5: Guardians
, also releasing later this year.
At the helm are legendary filmmakers Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator
), David Zucker (Airplane!, The Naked Gun
), Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (Battlestar Galactica, Heroes
), and Paul Scheuring (A Man Apart, Prison Break
). Together they pledge the series will bring a new level of high-quality visuals and rich storytelling to expand the Halo
universe and tie into the games in exciting and innovative ways.
Ridley Scott also had a few words to say about the project:
In science fiction, we're always searching for new frontiers. We're drawn to the unknown. With Halo: Nightfall, we're pioneering a new medium in terms of interactive storytelling on Xbox. It’s going to be fun for long-time fans to see how the worlds come together with an ambition to attract new fans along the way with what we’ve created
