Microsoft has released an accompanying video to the information of these upcoming features, as a way to show them off in action.

Original Story:
Before Microsoft began today's Gamescom briefing, the next set of features which will be coming to the Xbox One in the near future were revealed. The update coming in August has already promised new Friend features, including a Friends section on the homepage, the most popular games among friends, and a Gamerscore leaderboard to make things a little more competitive. This new feature has only been available to select Preview program members so far, but will now be rolling out to everyone who is a Preview member.

Here is a list of the other upcoming features which will roll out to everyone over the next few months:

Snap Center:
Some of the favorite features on the Xbox 360 guide system will now be easier to access on the Xbox One. Messages, friends, parties, and achievements will all be available in the new Snap Center, making it easier to switch back and forth without interrupting gameplay.

Threaded Messages:
The new Messages app will create threaded messages, with full conversation history between you and your friends. This includes embedded links to Game DVR clips.

Media Players:
This new app will allow users to play media files from either an attached USB device or a network connected home media server that supports DLNA protocols. The Xbox One will support more formats than the Xbox 360, including the following:

Stream TV to SmartGlass:
Arriving first in the markets receiving the Xbox Digital TV Tuner, users will be able to stream TV across their home network to their Windows, iOS, and Android devices that have the SmartGlass app. You will be able to interact with live TV, while not interrupting gameplay.

Boot to TV:
Users will now be able to set their console to boot directly to TV when coming out of connected standby.

Live TV Mini Guide:
In markets where OneGuide is available, a new mini guide will be displayed on the bottom of the screen, which will display information about what is currently playing. This will allow you to quickly change channels, and see what else is on, while still watching your current shows.

Back end work is currently underway to prepare the Xbox One for launch in 29 new markets in the coming weeks.
