The fifth map out of six has been confirmed for 343 Industries highly anticipated, Halo: The Master Chief Collection
. We already know that Coagulation
, and Zanzibar will be re-imagined from the much-loved https://www.trueachievements.com/Halo-2-Xbox-One/achiev....htm
. To add to this highly pleasing news for Halo
fans, Lockout has now also been confirmed to be making its appearance in the upcoming collection.
Lockout is set to include some new features in the re-imagined version that may even catch the die-hard Halo 2
veterans by surprise. The map itself sees all of its intense, fast-paced, close quarter battles take place in an old Forerunner research laboratory. Situated high up in the mountains of Delta Halo, the vertical level design and three levels of floors to choose from, players can dominate the entire map with some very precise jumping allowing them to quickly keep each floor and its narrow corridors locked down.
Max Hoberman, Certain Affinity's President and also one of the original lead designers of Halo 2
is ready to bring the frantic fighting back via the Xbox One:
Lockout was hands-down the most popular small arena-style map in Halo 2. We're thrilled to be bringing this fan-favorite back, and are paying close attention to the details and subtleties that made the original great while also making a couple of very careful, very calculated enhancements. Most prominent among these are a bit of cover added to the ‘Elbow,’ the long walkway connecting the grav lift to the sniper tower, and a dynamic element that should help counter an entrenched group of enemies. Of course this can be disabled in Forge for players who want a near-match of the original experience.
For the passionate Halo
fans who may be visiting PAX this year, be sure to check out the Xbox Booth (#412, #422, #432) for a hands-on session with the game and map itself. There will be plenty of events going on for the Halo
community, as seen in the most recent trailer
, including a tournament that will broadcast live via the Halo Twitch Channel
. More details on the schedule at PAX can be found here
