Major Nelson has made a post on his official blog regarding changes in the Xbox LIVE Gold Membership price structure, and it's not mentioning any price drops. Major Nelson gave the following statement:
I wanted to let you know that as of November 1, 2010 we are increasing the price of an Xbox LIVE for some members. This price increase only affects Xbox LIVE Members in Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom or the United States.
If you don't see your territory in the above paragraph, your subscription prices will be unaffected. Everyone else, the changes are varied and here's a breakdown what you'll be paying under the new price structure.
The gold coloured items above are nothing to worry about, they were simply a hyperlink on the original chart which has now been converted to picture format. The price changes are said to be reflective of additional content and services as Major Nelson briefly outlined in the same post::
Since launching Xbox LIVE in 2002 we have continually added more content and entertainment experiences for our members, while keeping the price the same. We’re confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry.
Microsoft are offering the chance to 'lock in' the price you pay now by purchasing additional subscriptions and 'stacking' them to your account. This isn't anything new though, you've always been able to do this, but perhaps now is the time to do it. You can either visit the Microsoft Price Lock
web-page or hunt down a bargain on the internet.
