Geometry Wars³: Dimensions Details Emerge

Fans of fast-paced, frenetic gameplay and lucid visuals will be pleased to hear that Geometry Wars³: Dimensions is currently under development by new studio, the aptly named Lucid Games, a team which features many of the minds from the original Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved² creators Bizarre Creations. The title will also be one of the first titles to be published by the recently resurrected Sierra Entertainment.

The classic twin-stick action of the previous titles is of course back, though as the name suggests, Lucid are literally adding a new dimension to the familiar gameplay and bringing 3D geometric shaped maps into play. This change will add a new layer of strategy to the game as players will have to take into account a drastically different line of sight to what they are used to.

New weapons will of course be on hand to help with this added challenge, and alongside the classic Smart Bomb, players will have the opportunity to use a Turret Super, a stationary turret that fires in all directions and, potentially, annihilates all opposition.

There is also the Attack Drone, which follows closely behind and shoots in the same direction as you, thereby increasing your total firepower, though it can also be set to defend, or used as a battering ram. The drone can also be levelled up as you progress.

Lucid Games will also be adding both local co-op as well as competitive head-to-head and team vs team online multiplayer to the mix, though at this time, there are no details as to how these modes will play out.

Geometry Wars³: Dimensions is set to arrive on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 this Autumn.
