Halo: Spartan Strike Announced

Microsoft and 343 Industries have announced a new top-down Halo game set to come out this December, Halo: Spartan Strike. Following the same twin-stick shooter approach of Halo: Spartan Assault, the game is set to release on Windows 8/8.1 and Windows Phone 8/8.1.

Spartan Strike 16

Halo: Spartan Strike is set during the events of Halo 2, where you play as a Spartan in a real-world, classified ONI simulation beginning in New Mombasa in 2552. The game will contain 30 missions and pit you against hordes of both Covenant and Promethean enemies. New weapons (the Suppressor, Scatter Shot, Binary Rifle, and Incineration Cannon), new armor abilities (the Proximity Mine, Shock Chain, and Airstrike), and new vehicles (Warthog and the all-new Kestrel VTOL) will be available to use to fight the enemy.

The game will also feature weekly challenges that players can compete with against their friends. Also, earning achievements in Spartan Strike will unlock content in the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Here is a set of screenshots to give you a feel of the layout of the game:
