Extra Life 2014 Roundup

By Dave Horobin, 2 years ago
This weekend, many members of Team TrueAchievements joined thousands of gamers around the world in giving up their time to take part in a 24 hour gaming marathon for Extra Life 2014's National Game Day.

Last year, the team raised a very impressive combined total of $9,415.45, and we thought we'd aim to go one better this year by hitting the $10,000 mark. The response we've received from community members to help us achieve this target has been amazing, with 69 of you signing up to the team, and I'm very happy to announce that we smashed our goal and are currently standing at $12,034 raised to help sick children and their families when they need it most.

Total Raised

Whilst the National Game Day has now passed, it's not to late to donate and help us bring that total higher. If you can spare any donation, no matter how small, you can donate to any of our team members by visiting the Extra Life Hub and clicking the support link under any of the Avatars.

Throughout the day, I had the opportunity to chat to a few of our team members as they live streamed their gameplay on Twitch, but by far the highlight of the day for me personally was dropping in to Tazer One's stream just as he hit $1000 raised, and watching both his and his families reaction when they realised.

I was also treated to some quite frankly epic KickBeat – Special Edition gameplay from Dang3R Gaming, some Guitar Hero from MC0REBE and possibly the most patience I have ever witnessed in Trials Fusion (Xbox One) by Beth Bear.

I'd also like to give a special mention to our team captains, Chad and Jessie and imaidiot19 who organised the team over the past months.

We're hoping to be back even bigger during next year's Extra Life, and if you have any suggestions on how we can improve please don't hesitate to let us know either in the comments below, or by sending one of the captains or myself a PM.

Finally a huge thank you to everyone that joined the team, donated and helped share the Extra Life Hub over social media. You can all feel extremely proud of yourselves.
