TA Gaming Stats - October 20th to 26th 2014

This report is for the period October 20th to October 26th 2014.

Hello there stats lovers. Welcome to the numbers from here on TA in the fourth week of October. This week, my Ewok helpers the Statisticles have been really getting into Fantasia: Music Evolved. They've been happily throwing shapes to the lightweight pop songs. But then I switch it to Night on a Bald Mountain and scare the fur out of them.

Games Started
34,728 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 50,046 games between them (1,910 different games).

After weeks of new releases spoiling us by dominating the tables, things quiet down a little this week. That's not to say we get nothing. Just nothing to shout about. Free Microsoft experiment title Voice Commander is the most popular of the week's new releases, taking sixth with 770 starters. The next new release is Avatar sequel tie-in The Legend of Korra (Xbox One), at eighth with 700. Finally, Kinect interctive music title Fantasia: Music Evolved (Xbox One) takes tenth with 550 starters. Unfortunately, other new titles, Shadow Warrior and Just Dance 2015 (Xbox One), get left out in the cold.

With the new releases under-performing, we're left with Games with Gold freebie Chariot and recent releases The Evil Within (Xbox One), Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (Xbox One) and Forza Horizon 2 (Xbox One) to take the top half of the table.

Last week's new release and new Games with Gold title switch places this week, with https://www.trueachievements.com/Borderlands-The-Pre-Se....htm stepping down to second after dropping by over 5,000 starters, which allows Darksiders II to claim first despite also dropping in starters, this time by around 1,500.

A surprise new release leaps straight into third place with classic remake Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas grabbing almost 1,700 starters. It's the only new release to make the table as Fantasia: Music Evolved, Just Dance 2015, The Voice (Xbox 360) and The Legend of Korra all fail to show.

This week's racing themed sale gives Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit an eighth place position with 170 starters.

With no new releases on XBLA for the last few weeks, the numbers mostly continue to slip, with the table taken up again mostly by recent freebies, free-to-play titles and continuously popular titles like The Walking Dead: Season Two and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Games Started

After rising up to the top of the table with decent numbers over the last few weeks, Secrets and Treasure: The Lost Cities (WP) slips down into second this week, putting Age of Empires: Castle Siege (WP) back on top. Last week's sale title, Rayman Fiesta Run (WP), continues to prove popular in third, dropping from 200 to 150 starters.

Top Windows Phone Games Started

Age of Empires: Castle Siege (Win 8) claims the number one position on W8 as well, this time at the expense of Project Spark (Win 8), which drops to second and under 100 starters.

Top Windows 8 Games Started

Games Completed
5,825 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 7,678 games between them (1,210 different games).

The completions for Mordor begin to properly drop off this week, going from 530 to 420, though it's still more than enough to keep it in the top spot. Although neither game appeared in the started table, the ease of completion for recent ports The Walking Dead (Xbox One) and The Walking Dead: Season Two (Xbox One) put them in second and third with nearly 380 and 230 completions. Similarly, last week's Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition appears in ninth with over 50 completions, despite not appearing on the started table last week or this week.

This week's Legend of Korra proves a relatively easy completion, putting it in tenth place with 50 in its début week. It currently stands at 10% of players having finished it, though that's not a patch on the other notorious game from the same universe.

Top Xbox One Games Completed

Over 50 players managed to blast through Borderlands: TPS this week, putting it in joint first place with Halo 4, which continues its reign after 343's recent DLC achievement fixing patch. Players also start finishing up Games with Gold freebie Darksiders II, putting the game in third. The bottom half of the table is filled with titles that have seen recent game and DLC discounts to help boost their completions.

Top Xbox 360 Retail Games Completed

After weeks on the table and reaching the high point of second last week, Doritos Crash Course 2 vanishes now that the servers have closed and no one can play it. Sad times. Speaking of which, Ascend: Hand of Kul climbs up from tenth to seventh with 30 completions. The game is currently at 980 completions so it should make my "Ascend Watch" goal of 1,000 by next week!

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Games Completed

Following in 343's footsteps, Microsoft released an achievement fixing patch for Microsoft Mahjong (WP), which meant that some of the buggier achievements now unlock for players who start the game if they have met the requirements. This gives the game a big boost up onto the table and straight into first place with 100 completions. That leaves deal title, Rayman Fiesta Run to settle for second with 70.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

Secrets and Treasure: The Lost Cities (Win 8) takes first place on W8 whilst the sale title, Rayman Fiesta Run, grabs fourth.

Top Windows 8 Games Completed

Achievements Won
92,936 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 1,806,905 achievements online between them (65,251 different achievements).

Claiming four spots on the table are achievements that came with the latest a Horde a Mode bringing Title Update for Titanfall (Xbox One), leaving Destiny (Xbox One) to do most of the mopping up.

Top Xbox One Achievements Won

Borderlands is denied the clean sweep by a single Darksiders achievement in first place.

Top Xbox 360 Retail Achievements Won

Erm, seriously. What's going on here? Cluster Buster in Hexic HD appeared in tenth last week seemingly randomly and now three achievements for the game blast into the top. Am I missing something or are the Statisticles just trying to mess with me?

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Achievements Won

It's an Age of Empires clean sweep on WP.

Top Windows Phone Achievements Won

Jetpack Joyride manages to deny the Age of Empires clean sweep on W8.

Top Windows 8 Achievements Won

The numbers for both Action-Adventure and Shooter get a bit of a bump this week but neither gets any considerable ground over the other. Sports gets a boost up the table above Action and Racing into fourth. Despite not having a great showing on the other tables, the abundance of related new games puts Music & Rhythm onto the table in ninth.

Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
  • Action-Adventure15,779,557
  • Shooter14,499,029
  • Role-Playing6,816,759

  • Adventure1,709,758
  • Platformer1,578,266
  • Music & Rhythm1,031,804
  • Simulation818,460

That's all for this week. Next week will see the new releases again doing battle, with the likes of Sunset Overdrive, Lords of the Fallen, Costume Quest 2 and WWE 2K15 all fighting for the top spot. Oh and we may see a bit of a number bump thanks to the release of this bad boy.
