Evolve Introduces Us to Abe

One of the recurring themes that has popped up throughout our coverage of Turtle Rock Studios' Evolve is the importance of the different hunter classes in the game working together. Most recently, we've seen some footage of the assault class and were once again reminded of the importance of working together.

Today's news focuses on the Trapper class, as represented by Abe.

Abe has several features that distinguish him from other hunters. His weapon of choice is the buckshot-slinger, a custom firearm that changes shape and size depending on how fast he's pulling the trigger. Quick pulls of the trigger result in close-range scattershot, while slower pulls will grant more accuracy over a longer range.

Abe also has the ability to use a tracking dart. There are two typical methods to affixing the dart to his prey - one would be to just shoot it into the monster directly, or he can choose to be slightly more subtle and tag some bait, hoping a Monster will eat it and the tracking dart as well.

Finally, Abe sports Stasis grenades, which serve to greatly slow down the movements of the Monsters they successfully attack. This can even be used to slow down Monsters in mid air. The effect lasts about 15-seconds, or until the Monster leaves the area of effect, but a smart hunter can increase that range by smartly lining up their grenades, which can be tossed five at a time.

Evolve will be released on February 10th, 2015. If you had a chance to play in Big Alpha, share your thoughts on it below!
