Right around this time last year, 360-owners started to mysteriously receive emails from Microsoft containing gifts, ranging Killer Instinct
download codes to Xbox One consoles. It was assumed, at the time, that these gifts were largely in response to messaging mishaps surrounding the Xbox One's announcement, and intended to keep gamers in good spirits about the new console.
Flash forward a year and times have changed. The Xbox One has topped 10 million shipped units, and has made adjustments, such as releasing the console without a Kinect, in order to bring more gamers into the fold. It seems, also, that Microsoft has decided to revisit last year's gift giving, though they're laying it out for us this time around.
If you purchased an Xbox One between its launch last year on November 22nd, 2013 and November 11th, 2014, are in one of the 13 launch markets, have used the One for more than 10 hours, and are over 17, you can expect to receive some gifts. For the first set of goodies listed below, you must also have opted in to receive Xbox Marketing emails prior to Nov 11, 2014, which you can check by going to Xbox.com and checking your contact preferences under privacy settings.
First off, starting on Friday, everyone meeting the above criteria will receive the following:
