Next-Gen Deus Ex Gets Dawn Engine

By Rebecca Smith, 4 years ago
Over a year ago, Eidos Montreal revealed the Deus Ex Universe, the "ongoing, expanding and connected game world" that will be the hub of the upcoming Deus Ex titles on PC, consoles and mobile platforms, as well as other media like graphic novels. Since then, we've heard nothing about the upcoming games. However, Eidos has now revealed its new game engine, the Dawn Engine, that they have developed for the upcoming titles on the next-gen consoles.

Based on a heavily modified version of IO Interactive’s Glacier™ 2 engine, it represents the beginning of a new era for us. Our ambition is to build upon and improve both the visual and immersive artistry in our games, whilst also strengthening both the gameplay and storytelling experiences we strive to create.
To demonstrate the improvement in graphics, the developer has released the first screenshot taken from the game engine. The image is not intended to give any hints about any of the upcoming Deus Ex titles as it "was only taken in order to display the level of detail and artistic fidelity that is possible".

When we get more details about the next Deus Ex title, we'll be sure to let you know.
