Alongside the core episodes in Capcom's upcoming episodic title, Resident Evil Revelations 2
, Capcom has mentioned
that a Raid mode will also be available with the game. Today, the publisher cleared up several details.
First, there will be a total of nearly 200 Raid missions released alongside the game's four episodes. Episode 1 will launch with 54 Raid missions, Episodes 2 and 3 will contain 36 each, and Episode 4 will include 68 missions. Raid mode will be offline only at launch, either as a single-player experience or couch co-op via split screen gameplay, but will be playable online once all four episodes are released.
Maps for Raid mode have been pulled from locales featured in Resident Evil Revelations
and Resident Evil 6 (Xbox 360)
, as well as locations from Resident Evil Revelations 2
. New weapons, and parts with which to customize those weapons, will also be present, as will the ability to unlock passive and active skills for your character. This means that if you and a buddy are both playing as Barry, you will both likely be playing as unique versions of that character. Your enemies also have access to new skills, however, so it's important to mind their progress when determining what skills you'll take.
Capcom also confirms that Raid mode will include 15 playable characters in total, and has confirmed that Claire, Moira, Barry, and Gina will be among them. Those of you who buy the digital Complete Season will receive Hunk, and those of you with the patience to wait on the retail release will get Hunk and Wesker. If you choose to just buy episodically, each episode will include characters relevant to that episode. Hunk and Wesker will be available as paid DLC.
We know that all of this is a lot of information to take in, so here's a video of Revelations 2
producer Michiteru Okabe going over what Raid mode has to offer.
The first episode of Resident Evil Revelations 2
