T-Rex Games, one of the leading Chinese games developers, has released new information and the first gameplay footage for their upcoming title Monkey King Saga
. Originally announced back in November, Monkey King Saga is a free to play action tower defence game based on the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West
, the very same novel that has inspired such works as the Japanese television series Monkey Magic
, the manga and anime series Dragonball
, and Ninja Theory’s 2010 action-adventure title Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
The story follows three heroes, Monkey King, Pigsy and Sandy, as they battle against waves of monsters whilst trying to protect Tripitaka the Monk in their “quest to recover the sacred scrolls and bring peace to the kingdom”. Gameplay will be familiar to anyone who has played a tower defence game in the past, but it also employs many well-known RPG elements, such as earning new skills and gear, transforming your heroes into more powerful forms and recruiting over 50 creatures to help you on your journey.
Monkey King Saga
