Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp Coming to Xbox One

By Michelle Balsan, 4 years ago
Kentucky-based video game developer, Gun Media, has revealed that their survival horror title, Friday the 13th: The Game, will be coming to Xbox One. Intended to be a "love letter to Friday the 13th", Summer Camp will allow gamers to take on the role of either the deranged killer or terrified campers, and is intended to be the first in a series of games that will pay tribute to the splatter/slasher films of the 1980s.

Summer Camp Screen

Summer Camp presents its action in the third person and is designed around multiplayer, allowing for 6-8 players to work together to survive the horrors at Camp Forest Green, a campground intended to mirror Camp Crystal Lake. In order to heighten the game's relation to its source material, the visuals are designed to remind us of what watching these films on VHS was like, and the developer has even gone so far as to bring on Harry Manfredini, the composer of the original "Friday the 13th" soundtrack, to create the game's score.

As if having Harry Manfredini on board wasn't enough, it was also revealed that Kane Hodder, who played Jason Vorhees in the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth installments of the "Friday the 13th" franchise, will be joining the game.

No release date was given for the game, nor were any pricing details given. We'll be sure to get that information to you when it's available.
