Back in January, Microsoft's Phil Spencer detailed Xbox integration
in Windows 10. One of the more prominent features of the presentation was that Windows 10 and Xbox One players would be able to enjoy cross-platform play for certain titles. The first title to be confirmed for this feature was Fable Legends
. Now, at the recent Game Developers Conference, Microsoft has confirmed 17 more titles to be heading to Windows 10, some of which will also have cross-platform play.
Current Xbox One releases #IDARB
by Other Ocean and Pinball FX2
from Zen Studios will both be coming to Windows 10. Microsoft has confirmed that #IDARB
will be a cross-platform title.
Several upcoming Xbox One titles will also be hitting Windows 10. Behemoth's https://www.trueachievements.com/Game-4/achievements.htm
, Blowfish Studios' Siegecraft Commander
and React! Games' Super Dungeon Bros
will all have cross-platform play.
Studio MDHR's Cuphead
, Asteroid's Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
and three recently-announced titles - Shovel Knight
and Wasteland 2: Director's Cut
- are also on their way to Windows 10. Despite the fact that all five games will also appear on the Xbox One, cross-platform play has not been confirmed for these titles.
This still leaves seven titles, all of which were new announcements. Before I go into closer detail on all of those titles, you may want to watch this trailer on how four of the aforementioned developers have coped with developing for Windows 10.
Aurora44's action RPG tells the tale of a wanderer who is looking for a place to settle permanently. The problem is that there is no sun. What little natural light exists in the world comes from volcanic eruptions that also coat the land in ash. Nothing is permanent in this world. You are not alone though. You will meet other people and you can choose whether you trust them enough to bring them back to your camp. These people will have unique skills and crafting abilities that could help you survive, but they could also betray you.
Players will be able to explore anywhere within the world. Your settlement will be located in the mountains, surrounded by a variety of different handcrafted environments. However, the game is based in a world that will move on without you. Non-linear progression means that being in a different place at a certain time has the ability to change the story dramatically. All of the people that you meet will be other players who have their own agendas and every encounter has the potential to end in disaster. There will also be Creatures of Ashen -- a diverse array of flora and fauna. These include "rare, lonely giants and hungry, twisted inhabitants of the night". Will you be able to form friendships and survive?2) Bierzerkers (Win 10)
Shield Break Studios' first ever game is a team-based "multiplayer melee combat game" with a viking afterlife backdrop. As one of four unique characters, you will "crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their sheep!"
The fast paced combat is easy to learn, but veterans will also find that there is plenty of depth for those willing to put in the time. Each class also has their own abilities, so choose carefully.3) Divinity: Original Sin (Win 10)
You may well have played Divinity II
on Xbox 360, but this title is a Kickstarter-funded prequel to the entire Divinity
franchise. Set in the early days of the kingdom of Rivellon, players take control of a pair of Source Hunters, who are part of an organisation tasked with eradicating a type of magic called "the Source" and the people who practice this magic.
The game is an isometric tactical turn-based RPG that can be played in single-player (player controls both characters) or two-player co-op. The game features a co-op dialogue system, a world that reacts to your actions and choices, and plenty of opportunities to develop your classless character. As an added bonus, the game also comes with the game editor so that players can create their own single- and multiplayer adventures4) https://www.trueachievements.com/Dungeons-and-Dragons-S....htm
n-Space's first foray into the Dungeons & Dragons
universe is a party-based tactical RPG with a single-player campaign that is created by some of the leadership team behind Dragon Age: Origins
. Once again the game is set in the world of the Forgotten Realms, more specifically the world of Faerûn. Players can choose from five playable races and six character classes. Once your character is chosen, you will face a multitude of characters and enemies taken from Dungeons & Dragons
lore and legend.
The main thing that sets this title apart from other tactical RPGs is the DM Mode, a "non-adversarial 4 with 1 experience". Dungeon Masters can create their own adventures before guiding players through them in real time. The game is built upon the fifth edition ruleset.5) The Long Dark
Hinterland Games' episodic first-person survival game takes place in the Northern Wilderness in the aftermath of a geomagnetic disaster. The lights have gone out and will never return, although bright aurora occasionally flash across the sky. All technological advances have been neutralised, leaving humanity exposed to the savages of Mother Nature. Food and water are far from plentiful. Roads are no longer safe for lone wanderers. To add further complications, winter is fast approaching. Players assume the role of Will Mackenzie, a bush pilot who must learn to adapt to his new surroundings.
Every decision matters, with scenarios that will change based on your moral decisions. You need to look for supplies throughout the open world while overcoming hazards created by the harsh weather, wildlife and other AI survivors. Hypothermia, starvation, dehydration, injury and illnesses like Dysentery are all a possibility. Survivors could be friends or they could be foes. Will you risk your life to potentially form a friendship and gain vital knowledge, or will you live with the belief that it is survival of the fittest?6) Pillars of Eternity (Win 10)
Obsidian Entertainment brings their RPG pedigree to Windows 10 with a title inspired by the exploration of Baldur’s Gate
, the combat and dungeon crawling of Icewind Dale
, and the writing of Planescape: Torment
. The title also uses a custom rule system that is inspired by tabletop fantasy role-playing games. There is six attribute scores, many character classes, character levels, a roll-to-hit combat system and inventories that are based on a character's strengths. However, there are no rounds and the combat mechanics are more transparent. Players can choose to display as much of this information as they prefer.
There are six playable races and eleven character classes, some of which are exclusive to the game's world. The world is also filled with "living and lost souls", which can be channelled by certain characters to increase their knowledge and power. As an example, Monks can meditate when in intense pain to enable them to focus and redirect spiritual energy through their weapons. Exploration is encouraged through the world's diverse environments, as well as completing your quests, of course.7) This War of Mine (Win 10)
11 bit Studios action-adventure title is set during wartime, but you don't play as an elite soldier. Instead, players take on the role of a group of civilians who are trying to survive in the midst of a besieged city. Venturing outside during the day is extremely dangerous due to the presence of snipers, so you must maintain your hideout. It is only during the dark of the night that it becomes safe enough to leave the hideout and scavenge for those much-needed supplies.
Like all good survival games, your decisions will make all the difference. Do you protect everybody in your shelter, or will you sacrifice some of them to improve your chances? You must survive, but who will survive with you?
As usual, we'll be sure to bring you more information about these titles as we get it!
