Everyone's favorite historical era that never actually happened is back in a new indie puzzler named Ironcast
. In it, fancily-clad players control one of several steampunk-inspired machines and do battle with mysterious Wellsian machines. The game will be the debut from Dreadbit, but the lead designer and founder of the studio also served as Senior Designer on Tearaway
for PlayStation. The objective of the stylish combat puzzler is to collect nodes in a Bejeweled
-like manner which can in turn be used on attacks.
Your character and titular mech are both independently selectable and customizable including offensive and defensive weaponry and levelling up mechanics . The game offers 75 different missions in a procedurally-generated story mode where you have to repel enemies for nine days (nine missions) culminating in a boss battle, so playthroughs will vary from player to player and upon replays. If you don't gear up properly over those nine days, your chances of survival are slim when the final boss comes to London, the game's setting.
A few screenshots as well as a gameplay unveiling video were released alongside the news.
No release window has yet been revealed but we'll keep a monocle'd-eye out for more information as it becomes available.
