TA Gaming Stats - March 23rd to 29th 2015

By Chewie, 2 years ago
This report is for the period March 23rd to 29th 2015.

Welcome to the stats here on TA. This week you get a double bill thanks to the fact I spent the last week and a bit sunning myself on holiday on Tatooine. You wouldn't imagine that a Wookiee could get sunburned with all that fur, but you'd be wrong. All of my skin is currently one big scab and my Ewok helpers, the Statisticles, are currently applying lotion to all my sore bits. That means these two articles will be a breeze through the numbers over the last few weeks as their hands are full and my hands are currently peeling off onto the keyboard.

Games Started
73,408 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 119,810 games between them (2,042 different games).

New release, the freebie spin-off Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious, smashes into first place with a decent almost 27,900 starters. It leaves other new releases trailing in its wake, including Borderlands 2 with 11,000 in second, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel in third with 7,700 and Slender: The Arrival in seventh with 1,800. Finally, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty settles for eighth with 1,200 starters.

Elsewhere, the previous week's new release Battlefield Hardline slips to fourth with 4,000 starters, whilst Threes! grabs sixth with almost 2,000 starters thanks to the week's sale.

On the 360, Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious (Xbox 360) similarly dominates, this time with the more conservative figure of over 6,600 starters. The rest of the top half of the table is dominated by the then current "Games with Gold title BioShock Infinite (Xbox 360) and its predecessors, Tomb Raider and Sniper Elite V2. Recent release Battlefield Hardline (Xbox 360) drops to fifth with only 220 starters, a clear indication of how much people have moved away from the previous generation for new releases.

XBLA doesn't give us much to shout about as recent freebie Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons continues to lead, followed by Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Xbox 360), with the rest mostly being easy or free stuff.

Top Xbox Live Arcade Games Started

It's the same familiar shuffle on Windows, barring deal title BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (Win 8) popping up in ninth with almost 50 starters.

Top Windows Games Started

After getting bigger and bigger numbers, Make It Rain: The Love of Money (WP) begins to lose starters, dropping from over 500 to under 320 this week. It's still safely in the top spot. The rest of the table remains familiar and this time deal title Mirror's Edge (WP) doesn't make the cut.

Games Completed
18,251 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 27,532 games between them (1,741 different games).

As well as being free, Forza F&F is also an easy completion, averaging around three hours, as the current 50% completion percentage of players can attest to. It easily claims the top spot with over 10,300 completions. The seemingly random addition of a selection of achievements in a recent "Title Update" gives Ryse: Son of Rome a surprising place on the table in second with over 500 completions. Recent DLC has a similar effect on Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition in fifth and sixth. Just a week after release, Battlefield Hardline grabs eighth place with over 120 completions.

Top Xbox One Games Completed

The 360 version of Forza F&F also smashes the table with over 2,700 completions. "Heists" put Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox 360) in second with 120 whilst new DLC does the same for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (Xbox 360) in fourth.

Top Xbox 360 Games Completed

The second episode for Tales from the Borderlands (Xbox 360) keeps the game in first, and the new second episode of Life Is Strange (Xbox 360) puts that game in second. However, despite the third episode of Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series (Xbox 360) also getting released, that game doesn't make the table because, unlike the the other episodic titles, all the episodes have already scanned in so it's currently uncompletable.

Top Xbox Live Arcade Games Completed

Being an easy completion, sale title BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger makes second with 15 completions in an otherwise samey list.

Top Windows Games Completed

As with the number of starters, the number of Make It Rain completions are seeing a drop, this time from over 100 to under 70.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

Achievements Won
130,904 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 2,678,442 achievements online between them (70,383 different achievements).

With so many starters and completions, Forza F&F easily claims the clean sweep on the One.

Top Xbox One Achievements Won

It's a similar story on the 360 but, interestingly, the achievements fall in a slightly different order. It is worth noting that this will be partly thanks to some small differences on each list, for example Fast 3000 on the 360 is Fast 7,000 on the One.

Top Xbox 360 Achievements Won

Although it didn't make the other tables, the evidence is right here as all eight episode three Game of Thrones achievements lead the list above two from Life Is Strange.

Top Xbox Live Arcade Achievements Won

Solitaire and Jigsaw muscle everyone else out, including BlazBlue.

Top Windows Achievements Won

Despite the numbers dropping, it's still a Make It Rain clean sweep.

Top Windows Phone Achievements Won

Well this is a turn up for the books. Shooter and Action-Adventure have been dethroned before, but it's usually by another close contender like Role-Playing. Thanks to the double freebie action of Forza F&F, Racing speeds to the top of the table with almost 30 million. The double Borderlands release does give Role-Playing a boost from under 5 million to over 12 million, pushing it over Action-Adventure into third but it can't catch Shooter. Threes helps push Puzzle up onto the table into ninth.
