November 10th Brings Xbox LIVE To New Territories

By DavieMarshall, 8 years ago
Xbox LIVE is big (25+ million users big), and it's set to get that bit bigger as Microsoft announce that they will be expanding their online services into nine new countries.

From November 10th, Xbox LIVE will become available to gamers in Russia, Poland, South Africa, Greece, Czech Republic, Hungary, Brazil, Colombia, and Chile.

If you live in one of these territories and already have an Xbox LIVE account registered to a different region, then Microsoft say it will be a simple process to migrate your account to the new locale:

We want everyone to have fun. If you live in one of nine new LIVE markets and already have a LIVE account through a different region it will be possible to migrate your account to join the official LIVE network in your country.

When you migrate your LIVE account you get to keep your profile, gamerscore, achievements, points balance and subscription time remaining. You also get to keep any downloaded content such as your avatar items, Arcade games, and game add-ons.
As always though, there is some small print which you might want to read before that date rolls round and you start the migration process, as the migration process is not reversible:

- Some services may not be available in your country.
- Previously purchased or downloaded content (videos, games, add-ons, etc.) will not be downloadable again after migration at this point in time, so remember to save your purchased content to your hard drive or a USB flash drive.
Microsoft say that if you've any questions on this procedure, you should visit the FAQ link to see if you can get your answers there.
