Tinertia Coming To Xbox One

Those of you who are fans of a certain space shooter starring a cybernetically enhanced Marine named John might know how to do something called a rocket jump. Well don't take it for granted, because you're going to have to learn how to do it all over again in the upcoming platformer Tinertia designed by Section Studios and developed by Candescent Games.

According to the developers, the game combines influences of games like Quake (fun-factor) and Sonic (speed of movement), as well as "precision controls", to create a new experience in the platformer genre. The catch here is that there is no jump button. Yes, you read that right. It's a platformer without a jump button.

Players take on the role of Weldon, an unassuming robot battling the forces of the evil ARC after getting stranded on a planet under their control. The idea behind the gameplay is to provide gamers with a game that, while easy to pick up and play, is difficult to master. Tinertia is unashamedly designed with the streamer generation in mind, with the developers focusing on crafting an experience intended to be both fun to play and to spectate. Keeping that in mind, check out some of the specific details below.

-No Jump Button: Master the physics-based gameplay to control Weldon using his rocket launcher to achieve accelerated speeds and an infinite supply of ammo to propel him from puzzle to platform.

- Seven Environments, 70+ Levels: Travel across seven differing environments and more than 70 levels to help Weldon reach the planet’s surface and escape the ARC.

- Ultimate Challenges:
Speed Runs: Challenge your best time with devastatingly fast runs through each level.
Rocket Challenges: Earn par for each level using a limited number of rockets.
#YOLO: Dodge treacherous obstacles and play through Weldon’s journey with only one life to earn a spot on the Tinertia leaderboards.

- Ghost Runs: Players can select the top competitors’ best times and challenge themselves against a ghost Weldon to improve their skills and times.

-Dynamic Replay Camera Angle System: This ability delivers the dramatic angles of every amazing run with enhanced zoom, camera speed options, and fixed angle features.
Here are some additional screenshots and the Youtube trailer. Tinertia is set to release sometime this fall, with no specific release date yet. As always, when more info is released we'll be keeping you informed!

36-year old married gamer, father to a fierce Boston Terrier but no humanoid children. I've been gaming practically my whole life, starting around when I was 5 or 6 years old with an Atari 2600 and progressing through nearly every console ever released apart from the Wii U. I'm a completionist by nature, but am trying to move away from chasing every-higher gamerscore and just focusing on enjoying the great games that are all around me. We'll see how successful I am. I've been on TA since 2009 but have become much more active on the site in the past couple of years, and look forward to seeing it grow now that the XB1 app is getting it some much-deserved exposure!
