TA Gaming Stats - May 4th to 10th 2015

By Chewie, 2 years ago
This report is for the period May 4th to 10th 2015.

Welcome to this week's stats here on TA. This week has been a bit of a blur in the fallout since our May the Fourth celebrations. I've been spending most of the time taking down streamers, scrubbing punch out of the rug and trying to find somewhere who knows how to remove Ewok effluence from cream velvet sofas. In possibly related news, I'm hiring new Statisticles.

Games Started
55,529 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 82,364 games between them (2,113 different games).

New release Wolfenstein: The Old Blood grabs second with almost 5,400 starters behind "Games with Gold" freebie CastleStorm – Definitive Edition, which halves its starters from almost 13,000 to under 7,000. Also released, driving sim Project CARS takes third with over 3,200 starters, though these numbers are cut short due to a staggered release in different regions.

Three other new releases don't make the table. Strangely enough, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Game of the Year Edition was released with a whole separate achievement list. Good news for fans of the game who look forward to stacking it. It hasn't exactly set the numbers on fire though, with currently only 200 starters nearly two weeks after release. The other two absentees are Ultratron and Slice Zombies for Kinect.

The rest of the table is filled with big recent releases or freebies, as well as FIFA 15, which lands in seventh after being added to the EA Access vault.

Top Xbox One Games Started

New "Games with Gold" title Mafia II holds steady in first with 2,500 starters, above a stream of previous offerings. The Star Wars related Deal of the Week gives as a unique entry with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed in tenth with almost 130 starters.

Top Xbox 360 Games Started

Finally Terraria (Xbox 360) gets dislodged from the top spot, although it would've been nice to see new releases at the top. Instead it's more titles from the week's sale, with Double Dragon Neon proving the most popular offering with 390 starters and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon following in second with over 280. The previous week's sales also keep Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Xbox 360) and DuckTales Remastered (Arcade) in the table at fifth and seventh.

Top Xbox Live Arcade Games Started

After being released the previous week on WP, Hitman GO (Win 8) makes it to W8 this week. Unfortunately, it misses out on the top spot by only two starters thanks to the previous week's new release Tiny Troopers (Win 8).

Top Windows Games Started

Last week's new release Hitman GO (WP) slides down from over 420 to under 120 starters but still manages to hold onto the top spot. The other new release of last week, Overkill 3 (WP), also drops from over 320 to under 100 starters, but this time doesn't hold onto its position. It drops from second to third, below Make It Rain: The Love of Money (WP).

Top Windows Phone Games Started

Games Completed
8,680 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 13,861 games between them (1,542 different games).

The One completed table doesn't give us too many revelations. Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious, Child of Light and Goat Simulator still hold the top three spots despite all three dropping by around 200 completions. The same easy titles mostly fill up the rest of the table but one newcomer is Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. The new release lands in tenth with almost 100 completions in its debut week.

Top Xbox One Games Completed

It's a similar story on the 360 with the same three titles staying up top, this time Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious (Xbox 360), Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel and Goat Simulator (Xbox 360). Like in previous weeks, the numbers in the rest of the table are so close, they're almost interchangeable (between 24 and 32). Even TA favourite Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth shows up thanks to number boosts as more people play it to stay in GTASC and/or Leap Frog.

Top Xbox 360 Games Completed

The new Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition achievements keep the completions flowing, dipping from 580 to just under 500 this week. As well as the usual easy stuff, sale title Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon pops up in fourth with under 40 completions.

Top Xbox Live Arcade Games Completed

Microsoft Sudoku (Win 8) jumps up the table into first with 80 completions now that it's the first time people can legitimately earn Go for the Bronze for earning a monthly badge over twelve months if they've been playing it since launch. Tiny Troopers slips down into third whilst Hitman GO enters the table in fifth.

Top Windows Games Completed

Although the Hitman GO completions jump from 20 to 40, it's not quite enough to dethrone Make It Rain. Recent sale title Mush (WP) grabs third whilst Angry Birds Stella (WP) leaps into fourth with 30 completions after updates made it easier to earn the required amount of coins.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

Achievements Won
124,712 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 1,942,153 achievements online between them (65,950 different achievements).

Castlestorm is denied the clean sweep thanks to two Wolfenstein achievements in third and seventh.

Top Xbox One Achievements Won

Nothing disrupts Mafia II this week though as its numbers hold firm.

Top Xbox 360 Achievements Won

Almost the same ten achievements make up Minecraft's clean sweep this week as last week. The only change is Librarian swapping places with Local Brewery in ninth.

Top Xbox Live Arcade Achievements Won

Although Hitman GO takes the most spots on the table with five, it misses out on the top thanks to Tiny Troopers. That Sudoku achievement people were able to finally earn also pops up in seventh.

Top Windows Achievements Won

After being pushed down to the bottom of the table, Make It Rain claws back up to grab eight spots. However, Hitman GO manages to retain the top spot, as well as sixth.

Top Windows Phone Achievements Won

After weeks of genres jumping up to take the crown, things settle back to normal again this week as Action-Adventure and Shooter again take first and second. Although Simulation sinks from second to fifth, the Minecraft achievements are keeping it afloat. The bottom half of the table sees no change, despite Project Cars trying to boost Racing.

Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
  • Action-Adventure13,380,617
  • Shooter11,227,799
  • Action6,567,079
  • Role-Playing5,986,033
  • Simulation5,137,676
  • Strategy4,250,600
  • Racing3,027,577
  • Platformer2,129,692
  • Sports2,113,542
  • Adventure1,056,619

That's all for this week. Next week we'll see if the other Project Cars regional releases help boost its numbers, as well as a whole heap of indie Xbox One titles trying to break onto the table (Lifeless Planet, Schrödinger's Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark, NERO and Toro).
