All that was old is new again. That's the mantra of modern gaming, much like modern film and television. People love to hit the refresh button and begin anew. EA has announced today that they're doing that with the Need For Speed
franchise with the simply titled reboot, Need for Speed
Ghost Games, the studio who handled the most recent entry, Rivals
, is back after a year off to try and make this racer the best in the two decades long series. EA said the game is adhering to the four tenets of the franchise: deep customization options, a vibrant nocturnal open world, authentic urban car culture, and a gripping narrative. The fifth tenet, it seems, is a blatant disregard for public safety.
Development is in the early stages, so neither developer nor publisher have much more to say for now, but it stands to reason we'll be hearing from it more at E3 in a few weeks. For now, check out the rest of the screenshots and a teaser trailer shot first-person style a la Cloverfield
Need For Speed
