Continuing their video series for the upcoming Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition
, Action Director Yuji Shimomura and Director Hideaki Isuno answer more questions leading up to launch of the remaster. They begin by discussing the differences between Japanese and Western ideologies and how these impact the perception of the humans vs demons struggle, central to the Devil May Cry
Next, they touch on the impact of getting the characters right, how the game can’t progress until that is accomplished, balancing the game between Dante and Nero’s characters, and differentiating them from one another stylistically. They also get into how the characters were fleshed out, such as American influences on the “flashy” samurai style of one character, and of course Trish’s blonde-bombshell persona, who “no one could dislike”. The video wraps up with a brief look at how Lady came about.
Check out the video below, but be ready to read subtitles and look for body language cues if you don’t speak fluent Japanese.
