Word has come out from the Netflix earning's teleconference that due to the successful testing of a "streaming only" package in Canada, it will be offering the same package in the United States.
According to the L.A. Times, Netflix will offer a $7.99 package that will forgo any need for the DVD-by-mail rental service and allow users to utilize their 'Instant' viewing library by itself. This could allow current users to save a buck or two by reducing their current subscriptions to just a streaming package.
So why is this news here? Well, according to the L.A. Times this package will also be available to customers who also use their streaming services through the various gaming consoles out on the market. This, of course, includes the Xbox 360.
Netflix is still calling this a "testing" of the U.S. market, but with how much praise there was over the success in the Canadian market, it is believed that it will become a package available to all customers in short order. With that in mind, there is no word on when the new streaming only package will be available to U.S. customers.
