Lego Dimensions Story Trailer Released

We've been following the upcoming sandbox title, LEGO Dimensions since it was first announced although we've never been absolutely sure how it all ties in together.

Fortunately, the folks behind the new LEGO title have released a story trailer which goes some way to clearing the matter up, or not, depending on your point of view.

In short, an evil mastermind, Lord Vortech, has decided that he wants to become the ruler of all the worlds in the entire Lego multiverse. With this goal in mind, he has set about recruiting different villains from the various worlds to aid him in criminal endeavour. As inter-dimensional portals open up in the different worlds, characters from DC Comics, Lord of the Rings and the LEGO Movie find themselves swept away, and thus LEGO Batman, LEGO Gandalf and LEGO Wildstyle can join forces in attempt to save their friends, save humanity and stop the nefarious plans.

The story promises to bring together characters from 14 of the most popular franchises including DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie, The Wizard of Oz, Ninjago, Back to the Future, Scooby-Doo, LEGO Chima, Doctor Who, Jurassic World, Ghostbusters, The Simpsons, Portal and Midway Arcade. With such an eclectic array of characters, the game will continue the unique and quirky sense of humor that epitomises the LEGO games. If all that turned out to be TLDR then perhaps it's best left to the official trailer to explain it further.

Players will be able to start saving the inter-dimensional worlds when the game releases on September 29th, for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles.
