Microsoft's presence at Gamescom of course means that Halo
would appear in some form. As well as announcing
the long awaited, and highly speculated, sequel to 2009's Halo RTS Halo Wars
, 343 Industries have also brought a plethora of details, screens and trailer with them for the next main title in the series; Halo 5: Guardians
. To kick things off, we have a selection of screens from the title's campaign to share with you.
Next, we have a new trailer that shows the evolution of Halo
's multiplayer in Halo 5: Guardians
from the changes that the core multiplayer has undergone to become the hyper-intensive Arena mode and the addition of the co-operative Warzone.
Xbox On's BennyCentral, along with YouTubers Ali-A, Vikkstar123 and Wizzite, went hands-on with the title's Arena mode and provides some insight into how the competitive mode has changed in the latest iteration of the series.
Alongside the trailers, a large number of Warzone and Arena screenshots were also released, that also feature a first look at the brand-new Arena multiplayer map: Coliseum. The new map takes its design influences from the first incursions of the Flood into the Forerunners’ outer territories.ArenaWarzone
Also at this week's Gamescom briefing came the announcement of the inaugural Halo World Championship. The Halo World Championship, which will launch later this winter, focuses on Halo 5: Guardians
’ Arena multiplayer mode and will feature a prize pool starting at $1 million dollars.
Microsoft and 343 Industries have stated that they will be working with major pro game leagues and partners worldwide. More details are to be revealed later this year.
Everything from Campaign to Warzone will be available to play when Halo 5: Guardians
launches on October 27th.
