The man of the moment, Alex Kipman (Kinect designer) has spoke out about the possible future of Kinect hybrids in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz
As it stands, Kinect titles and standard Xbox 360 titles feature on the same console, but it still feels like there's a hardware divide and a definite difference in genres and the targeted audience of each piece of hardware. However, the way Kipman sees it, this won't be the case in the future:
We will continue to have games based only on the controller. We love games without pads [but] there are hybrid games. These titles will use the joypad [and will] enrich the gaming experience with the support of Kinect.
This may come as welcome news to some who will no doubt be happy to read in black and white that Microsoft won't be selling them and their controllers downstream, and others who may be tempted into using Kinect but if the experience was offered "as well as" their existing gaming preference, and not "instead of."
So, let's open it up the floor. What kinds of Kinect hybrid titles would you like to see, or how do you envisage these titles working, if at all?
