TA Gaming Stats - August 3rd to 9th 2015

This report is for the period August 3rd to 9th 2015.
Welcome to the stats from the first full week in August here on TA. This week saw a big release in Rare's back catalogue collection title which, thanks to some backwards compatibility wizardry, has an impact across three whole platforms.

The Big Numbers
74,403 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 132,791 games between them (2,156 different games).

8,443 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 13,466 games between them (1,568 different games).

139,017 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 2,334,040 achievements online between them (68,350 different achievements).

Xbox One
The big new release of the week, Rare Replay, smashes the tables with almost 21,900 starters and a clean sweep on Achievements Won. With such a vast amount of content and massive amount of achievements (200!!) I doubt it'll ever make Completed. We'll also see its effects on both the Xbox 360 and XBLA sections thanks to a heap of games on those platforms also being included in the collection. Other new release Submerged is the ninth most started title with 930 starters but neither Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians, Beyond Eyes nor Boggle manage to make the table (maybe it's the whole "B" thing). However, Beyond Eyes is a particularly easy completion so even though it isn't on Started, it is on Completed as the fourth most completed title. With more starters and an also easy completion, Submerged takes the lead on that table with over 270 completions.

Elsewhere, new Games with Gold freebie Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes shoots into second with over 8,600 starters and takes seventh on Completed with almost 170 completions. The previous week's big release, World of Tanks, slips into fourth behind that week's other free-to-play release, Magic Duels. Being added to the EA Access Vault gives Dragon Age: Inquisition a boost to almost 1,500 starters as the seventh most started title. Finally, new DLC puts Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox 360) as the eighth most completed title

Xbox 360
First off, new Games with Gold freebie Metro 2033 leads on Started with 3,000 starters and three spots on Achievements Won. After that, it's the Rare Replay show, with Kameo: Elements of Power, Viva Piñata, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Perfect Dark Zero and Viva Piñata: Trouble In Paradise all appearing thanks to the collection. Makes a nice change to the Games with Gold domination of the past year. Those games also fill out the rest of Achievements Won, particularly Viva Pinata, which grabs four spots.

With none of those games particularly quick or easy completions, they don't make the Completed table. Instead, the new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox 360) DLC puts the game in eighth, the same place it does on the One. Recent DLC also keeps World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition on the table in ninth whilst Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth reappears as GTASC starts to heat up and people cash in their easy Gamerscore to stay in.

Rare Replay also has its effect on XBLA, putting Banjo-Kazooie, Jetpac Refuelled, Perfect Dark and Banjo-Tooie at the top of the Started table and throughout Achievements Won. Banjo-Kazooie in particular is the most started Rare Replay title across both platforms with over 4,500 starters, higher than most One titles this week. Unlike the retail titles, it's also an easy completion, grabbing first place on Completed with over 150 completions.

Elsewhere, a new Backwards Compatible title was added with Shadow Complex, putting the game as the sixth most started title with 150 starters.

The new Windows 10 titles Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) and Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta still rule the platform despite both dropping their numbers fairly considerably by between 1,000-1,500 starters.

Windows Phone
Windows Phone got another new release with Twins (WP) this week. As it's free, it grabs 1,500 starters and the top four spots on Achievements Won. Thanks to some buggy or unobtainable achievements it doesn't make Completed though.

With the majority of Rare Replay titles falling under the Action umbrella, the genre easily storms into the lead above usual favourites Action-Adventure and Shooter. With the World of Tanks numbers slipping, Vehicular Combat slides down from third to eighth. Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist and Solitaire keep Card & Board high in fourth

Total TrueAchievements won by Genre

Next week see if six whole Xbox One releases can challenge the tables, from Toy Soldiers: War Chest (probably) through to Commander Cherry's Puzzled Journey (unlikely).
