More Crackdown 3 Details Emerge From Gamescom

When the news of an all-new Crackdown title came out of E3, it was met with some excitement and some confusion. After all, in the age of reboots, remasters, and reimaginings, it wasn't clear exactly what we would be getting, but hey, at least it was more Crackdown.

Last week at Gamescom, the exact nature of the title was made clear as it was officially revealed to be Crackdown 3 and we got our first good look at what the title will have to offer. Perhaps the biggest news was Crackdown 3's reliance on Microsoft's Cloud to create a completely destructible multiplayer environment.

While the MP was demoed on the show floor, some details about the single player campaign were revealed as well. The game is promised to be bigger and offer more vehicles, guns, and (whether you love them or hate them) orbs. Gamers will still take on the role of a super cop with an incredible vertical leap, but the world will be much larger than previous entries especially with regard to verticality. There is the promise of a more-involved story breathing life into the new metropolis in which the action takes place. Also revealed was a new HUD for combat and vehicular chases that "alerts you to damage, so that you can take action appropriately."

Crackdown 3 is currently set for a Summer 2016 release.
