Game developer GRIN brings us very sad news on their "baby" Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries
, as the title will no longer be making its way to the Xbox One. The team has now been dismantled, and they have also requested for bankruptcy as they are unable to pay their outstanding bills.
The GRIN team had fallen silent for months, and now the reasons behind the silence are very clear. The title released via Steam to the PC platform but received very mixed ratings. Naturally, GRIN believed their title to be a 'AAA' product. After all, who else is going to believe in your product if you don't, right? Once the sales figures rolled in, the team knew they were in trouble. Many major issues began to pop up with regard to the gameplay such as in-game structures, transitioning from 2D to 3D, and the overall work and time needed to make a successful combat element.
With such poor results, the team had to call it quits. Kickstarter Backers are currently left scratching their heads. They will be receiving little for their investment for now, as the team doesn't even have the money to purchase stamps to send out the physical backer rewards. At this time, "the Woolfe IP, all of the assets, and source code are now for sale via the appointed trustee Cathérine Lannoy. (firstname.lastname@example.org)".
Wim Wouters, the leader of the former GRIN team, had a lot to say on the cancellation of the title in a blog post via the game's website. As you can expect, he gets quiet emotional and personal in his writing. For those interested, take a read of the original post right here
