Since this past February, the mildly successful Evolve
has been pitting hunters against monsters in a first-person, four-to-one multiplayer experience and has received mixed reviews by critics and gamers alike. In order to get more players involved in Evolve
, 2K Games is offering everyone the opportunity to play it for free this weekend.
Four monsters, 18 hunters, and 19 maps will be available to play. Also included, will be the recently released, "Hunting Season 2" DLC, which is good news for anyone that already owns Evolve
but has yet to purchase the additional content. Once the free period is over, players will be able to retain all progress made during the course of the weekend, (this of course will not include the unlocked DLC) should they decide to purchase the game. Anyone unfamiliar with Evolve
can take a look at the 'free weekend' trailer to see the hunters, the monsters, and what a proper beard looks like.
In addition to the free weekend, the Meteor Goliath (which is a variant to the regular Goliath) will remain permanently free to all Evolve
owners. Take a look at the video to see what a blue flame can do.
free weekend begins at 12:01AM PDT (Pacific) on Friday, September 4th and ends at 11:59PM PDT on Monday (Labor Day), September 7th.
Starting at 12:01AM PDT on September 4th, players will have access to all available characters plus Evolve
Hunting Season 1 and the Behemoth Monster for 24 hours, then starting at 12:01AM PDT on September 5th, they will gain access to the available playable characters from Evolve
Hunting Season 2 for 24 hours.
The Meteor Goliath variant character is available indefinitely, starting September 3rd.
