Leo's Fortune Screens Released

The upcoming indie platformer Leo's Fortune was announced back in June this year with brief details and a reveal trailer. A new batch of screens and details have now been released from the development team who also worked on the classic Battlefield 2.

Some may wonder why a development team have gone from huge AAA titles to the Indie side of development. Well, the former Battlefield developers, who are based in Gothenburg, Sweden, decided that going Indie would allow for them to make games the way they want to "with the type of creative vision and attention to detail that isn’t possible at a big studio".

Taking classic platforming elements and adding physics based puzzles, the title also aims to be visually impressive with "painstakingly handcrafted graphics" along with an original story and fully voiced over cut scenes. On the adventure to recover the stolen gold, Leo will bump into his fishy family members such as Uncle Sergey and Cousin Victor.

Each level in Leo’s Fortune is one enormous unique panoramic image, created from scratch. We even developed our own game engine from scratch. This is why we often refer to the game as “handcrafted.” We could’ve made this game more easily using off the shelf tools, but we don’t think the result would have been the same. Designed to meet the quality of a console game, Leo’s Fortune first released as a mobile game where it helped raise the bar of expectations for what a mobile game can be and won some neat awards in the process.

Leo's Fortune will be making its way to the Xbox One as part of the ID@Xbox program but a release date is yet to be confirmed.
